I've heard these only work on certain model years, otherwise the buttons won't work. If it worked on mine (July 07) I'd take it off your hands

You have to check if your car has the HIGH or LOW Idrive joystick.

LOW is when you can keep turning your wheel when you reach the end of a menu on your Idrive. LOW also has smalls steps when you turn the knop even when the power is off.

HIGH is when your wheel will make resistance when you come to the end of a menu. When the power is off there is no steps when you turn the knob on the joystick.

This one is LOW and my car has a HIGH joystick now. All buttons work and up/down & left/right but it is not working when I turn the knob because of the HIGH/LOW issue.

Yep, mine is low I believe. So this would work with it right (if your saying yours is high and doesn't)?
