Camber Plate NVH Question for others who have them
I finally got around to installing my Suspension Secrets Camber plates and getting the car aligned. All bolts tightened to spec, aligned and drives great. I'm excited to finally try it out on track next weekend.
That being said there is a single downside I've found since getting them. Between 20-40mph on some roads I occasionally hear a very faint tinking sound that comes from the front passenger's corner of the car. Happens just for a second and goes away, almost sounds like a small pebble bouncing around in the wheel well. Is this just the NVH that I was warned would go up a bit with Camber Plates? Does anyone else notice similar noises with their camber plates. I originally thought maybe it was the strut mount bolt coming loose or another bolt I failed to tighten. Since I have quadruple checked every one of the bolts and their torque spec and everything is secured and tightened to spec so I'm pretty sure this is just NVH, just trying to verify. Thanks! |

You shouldn't be hearing any "tinking". I know you've already rechecked your torque specifications, but make sure you're not ignoring anything- namely the camber adjustment fasteners on the tophat. Are your spring perches positioned correctly? Do you notice the sound under steady state cruising more or less than under braking/accelerating? That'll be your first clue on where to look- somethings either loose or out of spec.

Update: After suspecting the swaybar inlinks I went out to take a look at them again. While both are tight (41ftlbs), the passengers side link looks to be out a little bit at the bottom, even when both sides are jacked up to the exact same level. Including pictures from my drivers and passengers. Do we think this could cause it? Any idea what I did wrong to not get the swaybar link situated correctly on the passengers side? I was told to just make sure the front of the car was level so I jacked both sides up to the same amount and tightened.

So I figured this out and it indeed was my problem. I'm so happy I listened to that thought in the back of my head that this was not normal and that HiMiles confirmed it. The solution was after both sides were jacked up, I then needed to jack up the stut itself from the bottom. Since the car was in the air all of the pressure was pulling on the suspension down... pushing that side up a little showed the extra slack in the endlink, allowed me to push the bolt in properly and then tighten it down several more turns. Now that it's secure the car drives without a sound just like it always has. SO HAPPY THIS INSTALL IS OVER!!! Thanks to everyone who helped.
