EVERY M4 Special Edition F82 vs G82 - Drag Race [Carwow]

BIMMERPOST
     Featured on BIMMERPOST.com
Quote:
It’s time for an M4 Special Edition showdown!

We’ve got our hands on every special M4 for both the F82 & G82 generations, and they’re about to go head-to-head over the quarter-mile! So let’s check out the stats.

Starting with the F82 M4 CS, it’s powered by a 3-litre twin-turbo straight-six that produces 460hp and 600Nm. This power is sent to the rear wheels only via a 7-speed dual clutch, and the car weighs in at 1580kg. When new, it costs from £89,130.

Next up is the M4 GTS. It’s also powered by a 3-litre twin-turbo straight six, but in this instance it produces 500hp and 600Nm. Power is sent to the rear wheels via. 7-speed dual clutch, and it tips the scales at 1,510kg. When new, it cost £120,770.

The final F82 is the M4 DTM. It has the same engine as the GTS, so it also produces 500hp and 600Nm. It also has a 7-speed dual-clutch and weighs 1,510kg. However, it’s the most expensive of the three cars, costing around £130,000 when new.

The winner of these three will go up against the G82 M4 CS & the G82 M4 CSL. The former is powered by a 3-litre twin-turbo straight-six producing 550hp & 650Nm. Power is sent to all four wheels via an 8-speed auto gearbox, and it tips the scales at 1,760kg. New, it costs from £117,000.

Then, finally, it’s the CSL. It has the same engine and power output as the CS, but power is only sent to the rear wheels! However, it’s the lighter of the two cars, coming in at just 1,625kg. When new, it costs from £129,000.

So will it eventually be a walkover for the G83 CS’s AWD? Or could a Rear Wheel Drive snatch it? There’s only one way to find out for sure… LET’S RACE!

Every M4 Special Editon - Drag Race!

Just saw Carwow dropped a new video featuring a drag race with every BMW M4 special edition lined up.

They brought out:
• F82 M4 GTS
• F82 M4 CS
• F82 M4 DTM Champion Edition
• G82 M4 CSL
• G82 M4 CS

It’s really cool to see them all together in one place, especially since some of these cars are pretty rare. The video compares how each stacks up in terms of performance, launches, and rolling races.

Interesting to watch how the older F82 variants hold up against the newer G82 CSL/CS, especially considering weight, power differences, and how much tech has evolved in just a few years.

If you’re an M fan, it’s definitely worth checking out.

G82 CS has to be over 600hp, I went from a 630 HP Evo and I feel this car is about as fast

My M3 CS definitely feels faster than the advertised HP. I used to have an Evo IV back in the day. Miss that car

It‘s crazy how the M4cs G82 is the best allrounder there. In a dig: Fastest by far, not even close. Roll Race: It won the first and only lost when the M4csl started early. Track: Barely a second slower than the M4csl. The M4cs G82 is the best overall package. Not to mention it is the most modern one. CSL looks the best of course.

I thought the M4 CSL would be faster in rolling race. Because of the RWD drive. The M4 CS has AWD. Either the M4 CS has more power than officially stated, or the x-drive in M cars is so good that it drives comparably to the RWD version.
Although I admit that M8 did 200-300km/h faster than M6.

M4CSL is lighter than M4CS while has the same engine and same power so I also expected M4CSL to be faster in rolling based on power to weight ratio unless there is traction issue which is not expected for rolling.
As far as M8 vs M6 you know S63 engine on M8 is producing more power and more torque than S63 engine on M6 so must be faster regardless of AWD vs RWD since both M6 and M8 have almost similar weight.

XDrive system is mostly RWD without front slip. Only a small amount of power goes to the front and so drivetrain loss is pretty low on this type of AWD system.

What's the point of F8x RWD vs G8x AWD battle from dig?
We also know F8x has much less power for rolling.

That was just the generational winner from each side racing each other. Clearly the winner would be the newest gen, but it was to show the winner of the F vs the winner of the G models and how much advancement has been made.

Subjective. The E46 M3 CSL is the best looking M of all time to most people. The F8x wouldn't even be on my list.

Definitely, mine achieved 593 bhp on rollers on low quality fuel and if you remember carwow races with my G82 CS vs Porsche 4GTS 992.2 it managed 10.7 quarter mile.

FYI, guys the G82 CS from this race was lent to carwow by a BMW main dealer.
