...Iam curious about this as well...do these make a difference?

I have been eyeing the ftp turbo inlet pipes...as I would like to use the oem style dropin air filter and housings.

These are probably very similar to the integrated ones that come with the Eventuri intake. None of the pics show the inner construction or the smoothness/transition of the velocity stack and pipe flow inside, but if done right, regardless of the turbo opening still being the same, some benefit can be seen. Mods like this are usually done as a “response” mod… in other words, it’s about easing the difficulty the engine/turbos may have in their ability to take in air. If there is a restriction, even a minor one, that eased, then you should see a benefit. It’s also not about the HP gain… a gain in responsiveness and efficiency in lowering pumping losses can also be felt and would aid in a performance gain. Whether $4xx is worth the returns, hard to say until you actually do it, but I know on the M5 engines, the Dinan turbo inlets make a difference in the aspects I mention above and the concept is the same here to an extent.

I would be surprised if there was any difference at all. If it’s meant to fit with the OE intake and turbos, the diameter of the openings will be the same, and it’s such a short section otherwise. Not sure what opportunity there is to milk something out of those constraints.

its going to improve the air flow, but im not sure you will notice a difference on stock turbos unless you push the car 700+ whp.

I know on my old MK7 GTI turbo inlet pipes made a nice little improvement. Nothing earth shattering but it all adds up.

Whoever buys these should take one for the team and do a before/after dyno to see what, if any, difference there is.

Anyone up for doing some logs?

I’ll send you a set of our cast turbo inlet elbows to test out.

Note: These will only work with aftermarket intakes.

Reply here or shoot me a PM if you’re interested.

FYI, FTP also sells these (but for about $100 less) and actually provides dyno information and power gains.

FTP inlet pipes

If their claims are true, 12hp and 20ft lb gain for less than $500 isn’t bad at all.
