LCI CS Headlight Swap Questions

Have my 2025 G80 in transit and I'm starting to get some parts ready for it. One thing I was looking at is the CS headlights. I'm assuming they will need some coding after install and I was wondering what my options are. Even though there are some good remote coding vendors on the site I'd prefer something I can DIY in case something gets reset during a service or software update.

Anyone done this swap? What did you do for coding? Any other caveats with the swap? Do they even need coding or are they plug and play?

if you purchase US-spec CS lights, your vehicle order can be modified to reflect the new equipment such that they will remain functional after service/software updates.

If you purchase EU-spec lights then recoding will be needed after software updates.

How's that work? That something the dealer has to do?

actually i need to retract that, i just double-checked the data, and the correct coding for the LCI CS lights is only obtained when both CS typecode and option 3ML are present in the vehicle order. so it is actually not possible to persist the coding through updates for US or EU spec LCI CS lights - they would need to be recoded after software updates unfortunately.

Dealer can't do it, it can only be done by E-sys which dealer doesn't use.

FWIW the turn signals on the CS lights are different than the normal lights, somethjing I found out the other day when watching a video. Probably something to do with regulations.

Also does anyone know if the European LCI headlights keep the inside DRL activated when the turn signal is on?

11mins in this video:
