Might be a US thing, but if BMW Financial Services doesn't want to give you a loan, then can't you guys simply go to something like a bank and get a car loan there instead ?

Anyway that's what one would do out here if one were to need a loan: ask one's bank(s) at the very least, and maybe also the dealer and compare what the total charge would end up to be.

Out here, very few individuals finance a car at all, let alone through a dealer.

Many cars on our roads are company cars that are operational leases by the employer. The employers will have contracts with companies like Hertz, Avis, etc. (to name the internationally known names, there's more local ones). While BMW FS does offer loans as well as operational leases out here it's not commonly used AFAIK

The salespeople at any dealer I've ever set foot in don't even offer it on their own. E.g. when I ordered my G83, all the sales asked was "will there be financing". What he needed to know was about the procedures they need to follow to interact with the bank if there were any. But he had already clicked "no" before I had time to answer.

Cars owned by individuals: we tend to not buy cars we can't afford to outright buy ourselves. E.g. my mom always shared her wisdom: "never get a loan for anything but a house". Living on credit is frowned upon out here.
