ECU - possible to see driving behavior?
Looking at a good used G80 xdrive with low milage. For the BMW dealership who has the tools, is it possible for them to see how the car has been used? For example how many launchcontrols has been made.
If they agree to give out the information is another question. |

You can check average speed and fuel consumption, there is a “from factory” option. I don’t think it can be reset. This is very rough, but if you see abnormally high figures there it can be a red flag.

Flooring it is a red flag? Then we're all guilty of doing that, nobody should buy used g80's

Also there are many g8x cars that are never properly driven, mine was like that: 9k miles, 20mp/h average speed, 16mpg since factory, older dude owned it, probably just stuck in city traffic most of the time. Low avg speed, low mpg - probably city driving/traffic High avg speed, high mpg - probably highway traffic High avg speed, low mpg - probably aggressively driven |

Thanks for the input guys. I am flooring my G80 M3 myself, that is what the car is build for. But I am always warming up the car by driving carefully the first 10-15 min. I was driving according to the book the first 2000 km and I have never used the launch control.
With that said I am not sure my car is healthier than any other😀 But for me if I know a car has had the pedal to the metal from day one, has done 100 launch controls and been used as a drifting car - then I would try to avoid it. But I understand my wonder is a too high wish maybe. |
