Laguna Seca Blue Vs Daytona Beach Blue
I will be acquiring a g80 shortly and am stuck between Laguna Seca or Daytona Beach blue. I'm aware Daytona is lighter/brighter, while LSB is darker and maybe more 'turquoise'.
However, I've never seen either in person and would love some input as to what might be the better color & if one versus the other holds value better. Can both colors be accurately captured in pictures or do they look different in person? Does the LSB change shades and have more undertones when in different lighting? Pictures would be appreciated! Value is subjective, but given the heritage of lsb from the e46, it has a slight edge there.
Color perception is also incredibly subjective. Impossible to rely on the opinions of others here, you need to see them. Lsb is, and always will be, a storied, desired, special M color. If such is important to you, that's the obvious choice. There's also mine, pure blue, which is very close to lsb, but with a bit less turquoise undertone. I also found it to be reminiscent of my old nogaro s4! Daytona is lovely, but personally, I find it to be ever so slightly on the pastel side. I was also close to ordering velvet blue this time around, but felt like I got purple out of my system with the wrap on my last car. Again - so subjective. |

Perspective from someone that went with LSB.
I have a Portimao Blue xdrive comp (22) - love the car.. love the color in sunlight, but ultimately it wasn't 'dyanmic' for me enough. I like blues that pop and Portimao could be rather dull in overcast while looking slightly more blurple. Anyhow, lease close to end looked at LCI... decided I would do individual. Initially went for Voodoo Blue, until I noticed that color apparently is also used on 4runners and other Toyota vehicles, which is fine, but it took away some of the allure of that color despite me really liking it. I decided given the heritage of LSB and the e46 m3, I went with a manual as well and I should be taking delivery soon (within a month). LSB is very blue but also has kind of that turquoise that makes it pop when its sunny.. can't wait. but its subjective for sure.

There's plenty of pictures, especially of LSB, if you search in the Pictures forum. If it helps, I think Daytona Beach Blue used to be Mexico Blue. That said, pictures are good for basic impressions but they don't capture more subtle stuff IMO--like the difference between Daytona Beach and LSB. I lean toward Daytona Beach because it is a simple bright blue. LSB does have a bit of green, which I don't like. But you can't go wrong with either. |
