A hybrid AMG….👎🏽 Some things just aren’t to be messed with. Hopefully BMW learns from this lesson and doesn’t repeat it.

Hits all the internet tropes doesn't he. Beaver teeth looks, is heavy at 2 tons (but drives light), bring back the AMG V8...

Not legally possible - pure ICE is dead for high-output models. AMG will replace the hybrid 4-cyl with a hybrid V8 at least. BMW will follow suit with an S58 hybrid similar to the S68.

Yes, unfortunately I think it’s fair to say that while there has been a lesson learned about the four-cylinder, there is no realistic expectation of moving away from the hybrid and its associated weight.
A bit of a bummer from my point of view, but that’s just me |

I was shocked when he said the M3 suspension is too stiff and the C63 is more comfortable ! most of the journalists said the exact opposite, they actually praises M for how good the ride in the G8X platform
Note: im a G80 owner myself |

The 4-banger in the C Class is a total mistake by MB. They realized it and started working on a 6 cylinder solution but I don't know what happened. They definitely need to change their strategy about this small displacement ICE supported by an electric motor "mini muscle car" abomination. It's soulless and unnecessarily complex.

I still don't believe BMW's excuses for not bringing the M3 Touring to the US and I am still bitter about it.

Mercedes is still a bit too round and soft for my taste. Plus sounding like a can opener is just murder.
M3 inside and out is a completely different animal (I still don’t like its front) yet I would chose it any day for any purpose

Hopefully not because then they want to make the car > 192" long and over 4200 lbs
![]() More power needs more weight and size for them.

Hybrid Merc was never going to do well against the pure ICE M3.
Maybe it would fair better against the similarly crappy hybrid M5 touring barge 🚢.

The G99 beats the G8X in HP and torque so how would the AMG hybrid be a better match for the M5?
Trying to understand the humorous logic |

Not sure if someone already responded, but wagons usually are stiffer in the rear, which prob contributes to it.

Could not possibly agree more. The puzzling fascination of MB designers with the visual silhouette of hard working dung beetle continued to be an unexplained mystery.

The E39 M5 was 4024lbs curb weight, with similar dimensions to the current G80 M3. Yes, it had a V8 but the G80 has more cooling, electronics, features, weight from safety items, and other such and is lighter than the same-length but more slender M5. Until battery tech changes, no one is really going to be able to make a "lightweight" car with it. Tesla has done the best with it, mostly by making the rest of the car cheap and skipping a lot of noise reduction materials. |
