Even if one could do that legally in the US, there are just too many lethargic drivers who squat obliviously in the fast lane or abrubtly change lanes without considering speed/distance. Bad driving seems to be so ingrained into the road culture.

No sane adult would risk going to jail and loosing his/her drivers license by going that top speed in the US on public roads. It's simply not worth it.

But even if it was legal, the complete highway system should be seriously overhauled to accommodate safe high speed driving, which will never happen due to financial reasons.
Then comes the driving habits that you mentioned.

I recently picked up the CSL and in my first hwy 3rd gear WOT, I lol'ed at how slow it felt.

But this is what happens when you've been dailying a low 9s EV for over a year. Warps your sense of speed.

I have done it , empty 5 lane toll road, radar and laser defender on…. Not often, but our cars were not built for speed limit lol … you are right about the left/fast lane heroes — drive me insane, even when doing much less than in the video…
