2024 M4 streetcar build l single turbo l Bend Calibration l Maximum PSI

Greetings Friends,

I wanted to write this post to showcase the incredible build that I have been working on: a 2024 BMW M4 X in Portimão Blue.

I started with a 2022 model on which we made significant progress using Mosselman hybrid turbos and other modifications. Unfortunately, that car met an early demise via a ditch. So, i ordered a clone, 2024 model, which I took delivery of in April and began work on shortly after. The car was delivered to MAX PSI with just 1200 miles on it to begin voiding the factory warranty!

Phase 1 has been completed by Maximum PSI in New Jersey, consisting of:

Femto Unlock
MHD+
XHP
CSF intake manifold
Port injection ID1050x
RK Single turbo kit G40-1150
MAX PSI custom fuel system

The Shop - Maximum PSI, New Jersey
Maximum PSI came highly recommended, and they did not disappoint. Their professionalism and technical knowledge are second to none in this industry. Mike and Bill treated my car as if it were their own. The attention to detail and craftsmanship in the finer aspects of this build is something very special that you don't see every day. Mike and Bill truly listened to how I wanted the car to turn out, and they built it better than I could have imagined. My favorite part of this build is the custom fuel system they assembled. After struggling with low-side fuel pressure issues, it's reassuring to know that fuel pressure won't be a problem anymore.

Tuning- Bend Calibration
Utilizing MHD+, I have once again teamed up with Bend Calibration to handle the programming. Using MHD+ we are able to achieve true flex fuel capabilities (automatic adjustments for Eth content) making refueling a breeze and never having to sacrifice safety when mixing your own fuel. With over 15 years of professional engine calibration experience, they offer the latest tuning strategies for various applications—rally, strip, circuit, etc. They specialize in BMW performance and have been true trailblazers in S58 development. The previous car held the stock turbo record for a fair amount of time in 2022/23, thanks to Bend. The team at Bend Calibration is truly world-class. The personalized attention to your car and goals is something you'll be hard-pressed to find elsewhere.

Results
The experience of the single turbo vs. the hybrid twins is unequivocal. The scream of the single turbo is quite exhilarating compared to the muffled sound of the twins. Intake air temperatures are much better managed using the single turbo conversion kit as well. Current limitations are the stock motor and stock transmission, which I plan to upgrade towards the end of this year. 60-130 testing is promising, already surpassing the results of the last build with twins. Tomorrow, the car will go for an alignment, and then I'll get it on the track to see what it can do.

getting an alignment tomorrow then we will head to the track for times.
I will update this later with some good times for 60-130 and 1/4 mile.

This is interesting. I thought Bend Calibration was against tuning the single turbo setups. Or maybe they just won’t do that on EcuTek but will do it on MHD.

I guess I don’t get the point of spending all this money to convert the car to a single turbo. What’s the advantage of this?

This is an awesome build. I also really enjoy the sound of a single turbo vs twins. I went with a B58 M-lite route instead of S58 due to wanting a single turbo build, before single turbos were an option for S58.

Make more power up top. Sounds amazing. Especially with how the M cars sound with twins. Which is ass!! Con is definitely more lag but with rolling boost, that is gone these days. Love this set up!!!

I asked them about this when I was doing a Single on my X3M and they mentioned that on S55 Ecutek doesn’t support single bank and MHD doesn’t have integrated port injection (controlled by dme.). They mentioned when MHD has that working on the S55’s it’s go time for a single on my M2C. One thing I love about Bend is they do things the right way or not at all. If a way doesn’t work, they tell you…

Agreed. They have been great with my S55. They also told me that a single (while improving the sound) wasn’t better for me with a stock motor. So I used their ‘S55 sweet spot’ guide to get me headed in the right direction.
