Best & Easiest Tuning G82

Hello all,

I am picking up a 2025 M4 and want to know the easiest and best route to tune this car with $$$ attached. Used to be on bootmod3 back in 2019 but haven't been in a bimmer since then so out of the loop now. Any help is appreciated.

Thanks

Easiest would be a simple plug and play module ours will run around $250 while others range from $550+ racechip jb4 ....

Best is a flash tune but you 100% void warranty and you have to send your ecu out total is around 2k.

All the info is already out there. While you’re waiting in the car, it’s a good time to just start on some reading and self-education on the matter. If you knew enough from your F series, this should just be a quick refresher and some new stuff.

Will you be dyno testing your module?

Yeah we will gets some dyno tests done just keep in mind they will be fairly similar to any other tuner running an additive boost map.

Example: Our + 4psi map will be the same as their +4 psi map. Any difference will likely be gas used or dyno calibration.

out of the options currently on the market, the easiest way to tune a car would be by getting the race chip

if you want to wait, it sounds like MAD will be releasing their tune in the future which will be even easier to install than Race Chip

I don't think MAD's one would be even easier to install than the RC seeing as they are plugging up the same sensors as the RC

A "proper" ECU remap was easily possible on the F8x cars, as you say using BM3 for example, however it's not quite as easy now unfortunately on the G8x cars because there is only one company in the world (as far as I'm aware this is still correct) that can currently unlock the DME/ECU and that's Femto in Finland. Also, they can't unlock it remotely, so you have to remove your ECU and ship it to them in Finland, where they will unlock it and ship it back

Apparently the process is pretty quick (in Europe it can take ca. 3 days in total from sending it to receiving it back), probably take a while longer if it's coming to the US due to US customs and all that BS (not sure about Oz other than you're fucking miles away from Finland and have loads of animal their either want to kill you or kill you and eat you!)

You can then have it remapped, using BM3 or other applicable mapping software/solutions

You may find this video (and the follow up one) helpful as a starter for ten:

Unlock the ECU and flash BM3. Zero regrets!

If it doesn't need to plug up the TMAP sensor behind the water pump, then it will be GOATed as the easiest

Thats the way I went. Mike has the stuff you need and if he isn't cheapest - then he'll match. Hell - I live eastcost/BFE south carolina. Ordered the fuel it flex fuel sensor on Monday from him - was in car and I was mixing ethanol Wednesday afternoon!

IMHO, new car:
-Rchip (will work for first 6-12 months until you tune)
-BMC air filters
-HR/Eibach drop springs
-spacers
-midpipe
-kubax/CS/CSL flash

Cars is set for first year or so...

^^^ You forgot CSL coding in your list. That’s like an easy must to get it as it should have been from factory. Fixes all the bullshit watered down setup BMW did.

If he used to be on BM3 he isn’t going to be satisfied with a piggyback.

IMO just tune BM3 and send it!

Do you want good power with reliability and a warranty? There's really only one game in town and it's expensive. Compared to the gains and the piece of mine though, small price to pay.

I was happy with the piggyback on my RWD; I did not want more because of traction issues.

It depends on the individual and their goals. The JB4 can be more than enough for many, but if you're looking for the best performance, I agree that Bootmod3 is the way to go.
