Rob@StrasseWheels AW G80 M3 Comp Build Journey!
Featured on BIMMERPOST.com I’ve been a proud member of this forum since 2011, and throughout the years, I’ve had the pleasure of owning two E92 M3s (2008 Space Gray & 2013 Mineral White) and an F82 M4 (Mineral White). Now, I’m back in an Alpine White G80 M3, and let me tell you, this one is on another level of fun! After a little over a year of enjoying this beast, I decided it's finally time to share the journey. So, here’s the official build thread for my G80 M3. Expect regular updates and plenty of pics as the mods keep rolling in. Trust me, you won’t want to miss this. Let’s rewind a bit: I placed the order on August 22nd, 2022, and took delivery on July 31st, 2023. The wait was excruciatingly long—almost a full year! The original dealership played hardball, constantly pushing me back in line and even suggested I pay a $10k markup to get bumped up. I wasn’t about to drop that kind of cash on an Alpine White M3—maybe for an Individual color, but not this one. So, I canceled the order after months of waiting and, through a buddy in the business, connected with a local dealership. Shoutout to Konrad for making the magic happen and taking care of me! Build Spec: 2023 G80 M3 Competition Alpine White Fiona Red Full Merino Leather Executive Package Driving Assistance Package Parking Assistance Package LED Laserlight Headlights - A must! 19/20 826M Black Wheels Carbon Fiber Interior Trim Drive Recorder Wireless Charging Being in the wheel industry, I’ve always been drawn to BMWs—not just for their performance, but also for the way they look and drive. This M3 needed to stand out, not just with its aggressive stance but also with a custom wheel setup that truly reflects its character. The mods were planned and ready to go before the car even arrived. I didn’t waste any time getting this build underway. Exterior: CRBN Industries Carbon Fiber Grill CRBN Industries Carbon Fiber Air Ducts CRBN Industries CS Spoiler CRBN Industries Carbon Fiber Mirrors CRBN Industries Carbon Fiber Antenna Cover Stradale Design GTS Carbon Fiber Front Lip 50th Anniversary Roundels IND Alpine White Painted Front Reflectors IND Yellow DRLs 70% Ceramic Tint on all windows Wheels & Suspension: Strasse SV10-RS Ultralight Carbon in 20x10 & 20x11 Michelin Pilot Sport 4S in 275/30/20 and 295/30/20 AST HAS Lowering Kit Engine Mods: MAD Fat Boy Catless Downpipes MAD Single Midpipe MAD Axle Back Exhaust w/ Silver Tips MAD Carbon Fiber Cold Air Intake Alpine White Painted Engine Cover Gloss Red Powder Coated Strut Brace Interior Mods: Carbon Fiber Steering Wheel with Black Perforated Leather and ///M Stripe I’m beyond excited to share more updates as they come. This is just the beginning, and I can’t wait to see where this build goes. Feel free to ask any questions or share your thoughts—I’m here for it! Delivery Day - July 31st, 2023 A typical rainy day in Miami didn’t dampen the excitement. My buddy made sure the M3 was delivered to me, making the whole process smooth and easy. After the full intro and walk-through of the M3’s features, I was even more pumped to finally get behind the wheel. Here she is, right next to my brother’s 740i M Sport. The next morning. Blown away at how fun this car is! Ceramic Tint Day I’m not a fan of dark tinted windows, so I opted for 70% Ceramic tint all around. It’s almost clear but does an excellent job of keeping the Miami heat at bay. Now, the cabin stays cool no matter how hot it gets outside. First round of mods come in thanks to Ryan over at IND! While waiting for the wheels to be made, I received the first set of mods: the AST HAS lowering kit, Yellow DRLs, Alpine White painted front reflectors, and the Carbon Antenna cover.

Wheels & Suspension Day Choosing the right wheels for my G80 was something I really wanted to get right. I didn’t want just any set—I wanted something unique, something that would make my build stand out. After some thought, I decided to go all in with our Strasse SV10-RS Ultralight Carbon wheels. These aren’t just any wheels; they’re a 2-piece setup with a Dymag FULL Carbon Fiber barrel and a forged aluminum center. We made these wheels as light as possible without sacrificing that deep concave look I love. And to make them even lighter, I added titanium assembly hardware and our Strasse Titanium Lug Bolts. Getting the fitment just right was super important to me. I wanted the wheels to sit perfectly flush, but with that aggressive edge that makes the car look a bit meaner. After some tweaks, I got it exactly where I wanted—aggressive, but not over the top. When it came to the color, I was really picky. After going back and forth, I settled on a new color we came up with: Satin Olympic Gold. I paired it with our 50/50 hardware in Gloss Black, and honestly, it turned out better than I could’ve hoped. The wheels just pop, and I’m thrilled with how they look. For the suspension, I had a great chat with Ryan at IND. We decided on the AST HAS lowering kit because it drops lower than the KW HAS kit. Both are solid choices, but I wanted that extra bit of low to really bring the whole look together. After seeing some G80s around town, I knew this was the right move. Here are some pics from the initial install. I’ll do a proper photoshoot later, so keep an eye out for that.

Carbon - A Must! The previous G82 M4 and E92 M3 were both white. I’ve always gone the white with Carbon route with my builds. I love how the Carbon stands out on a white M3. After chatting with the local team over at Carbon Industries in Miami, I decided to go with their V2 Grill because of the ACC sensor. I also added the Carbon Air Ducts, Carbon Mirrors, Carbon CS Spoiler, and the Stradale Design GTS front lip. Really happy with how it turned out!

Looks great overall. Always a fan of a clean Alpine White M3. Love the wheel design, but by going with the black carbon barrel, it makes the wheel look like a 17 or 18” as the barrel blends into the black tire sidewall. I’d imagine a one-piece wheel in that awesome gold color would have “popped” a lot more and would definitely look a lot larger. Or a color other than black for the barrel.

Those wheels have done magical things to my penis. Not a fan of white cars but this is extremely sexual.

Wheel Appreciation Post I’m seriously in love with these Strasse SV10-RS Ultralight Carbon wheels. The Satin Olympic Gold centers paired with the Carbon Fiber barrels create such a unique look. The details really stand out, from the deep concave to the Gloss Black Titanium assembly hardware—it all just works. These wheels just feel right on my M3. I couldn’t be happier with how they pull everything together and give the car an aggressive yet stylish stance.

Thanks man! I've been thinking of doing a stealth PPF. Not sure about it. Maybe a colored PPF but I have no idea what color I'd do. New wheels in the works, so maybe I'll work around that.

I thought about that too but I already got the whole front end wrapped. Worry about spending 7k for stealth and then I sell the car in a few years.

Hey man. Loving the car! I’d take it the exact same direction. You mentioned you had a buddy who was able to get you an allocation. Im in central Florida and having a hard time not getting screwed. I’m looking at getting into a g80 and want very specific color and spec for msrp. Nothing individual tho. Would your buddy be able to help a fellow forum member? |
