Hey everyone. So i had a post on here about a month ago talking about how i was considering an M4, but i didnt like how the car looked. Well after that i decided to look at the M2. I liked how it looked slightly better and my local dealership was willing to sell to me under MSRP. I specced one out and basically checked all the options that i could including adding MP parts. Total price came out to 80k before tax and fees.

Well today i decided to go check out some M4's and M2's and look to see if i really wanted the M2 and if i could live with the looks of the M4. Sat in an M4, really liked the interior and how the seats felt. Salesperson asked if i wanted to test drive. We took it out and i really, really liked how it drove. This was just the normal M4 and man that was already quick.

Talking to the sales person, she also told me that since i specced the carbon buckets on the M2, that the build could take as long as 6 months for it to get here. I didnt want to wait that long. The M2 is not a dream car of mine at all, just a transitional car till the next one, so for me not worth the wait.

So then we sat in an M2 with standard seats to see if i would like them enough. And wow the price difference was immediately apparent. The M2 was significantly more uncomfortable. At that point i decided that the M4 was probably going to be the better car for me. We drove to another dealership that had some more selection as they didnt have much at the one we are at. As we were walking towards the cars, this one caught my eye. It was a green, but not Isle of Mann green, and in the overcast light it gaves vibes of a dark turquoise, almost british racing green. I peeked inside and it had a Cognac interior. My favorite car color combo. I checked to build sheet and it had all the options i wanted and none of the ones i didnt want. Talking to the sales rep, i told him he'd have a sale if he was willing to match or come close to a price quote i had gotten from another dealership a month ago. They had quoted me 12% under MSRP for any M4 on their lot.

While he couldnt get me 12%...he got me 11%. And so we had a deal. And after much waiting around (since this was such a spur of the moment purchase), i am now the proud owner of a M4 Competition xDrive in Boston Green Metallic. It might even be a 1 of 1 for the US. The drive home was amazing, and this thing has way more power than i think i'll ever need. I cant wait for breakin to get over with so i can take this thing to the track.

Here are some more photos of the car

Great car and great buy, congrats!

(Suspect your interior is Tartufo, not Cognac, BTW).

Yes thank you, i couldn't remember the actual name and its so close to cognac so i just defaulted to that. It is indeed Tartufo with the merino leather.

So for everyone wondering about the deal. I currently live in the SF Bay Area of California. There are A LOT of M4s out on the lot and i contacted Stevens Creek BMW. They are desperate to get rid of the M4s they have on the lot and one of the sales associates there quoted me 10k under MSRP for the M4 i was interested in and 12% under MSRP for any M4 convertible on the lot (didnt matter if it was a comp or xdrive). I took that quote in email (i only ever negotiate via email) and asked for a similar deal when i saw this car. Luckily the sales associate i got (BMW of Mountain View) is a huge car enthusiast himself and really fought for the deal he got me. Supposedly i've so far gotten the best deal ever (from them) on an M4.

They were willing to match it, and even match my credit unions interest rate at 6.29% as well as they threw in covering my key fob for free (whatever i'll take it) so it all worked out in the end.

Disclaimer: This is an AutoNation dealership and i purchased a 230i and a F87C from their sister dealership a few years ago, so i'm unsure how much that purchase history helped.

Thanks for sharing your deal information.

nationwide inventory on new M4 & M3 is a lot compared to December 2022.

I suspect BMW dealers anywhere in the US will seriously entertain similar offers rather than paying interest charges everyday these cars sit on the lot

It's so crazy to me how much a color can change perspective on how a car looks. I originally thought the M4 was so insanely ugly. Like i swore i'd never buy one. But i cant stop looking at my car. I think it's one of the most gorgeous cars ive ever owned. Its times like this where when people ask if they should sacrifice color just to get a car sooner, that i'm a hard no on that. Get the color that you want. it really transforms the car from just a car, to something that you cant stop staring at.

Yeah when i started looking i was surprised at how many M4s were just sitting on the lot in all my local dealerships. And for a long time too. That basically told me that they werent selling because people didnt want to buy something so expensive right now and i knew i had the leverage i needed to get the deal i wanted. It felt good, reminded me of pre-covid times when it was a buyers market. Glad we're getting back to those days.

I had a BG E36 M3 Coupe'..bought her new in 1997. Loved that color, shocking to see it in its modern day form. The M4's sit on the lots here in S Fla forever while the M3's still getting swooped up quickly.

M2’s are starting to pile up here in Canada, the dealer I go to usually has 6 in stock. Deals can’t be far off. Dealers have been making a ton of money for the last two years but expect that mind set to change soon enough. M4 and M3 are in stock as well.

Nice color combo.
