M440i first oil change

I’m approaching 1200 miles in my M440i and am considering an oil change at that time. I drive less than 3,000 miles per year. Would it be worth it to get it done at 1200 miles?

At 1200? Probably not. I do mine every 5k.

This will be subjective and many opinions across the board. I did at 1600 and in looking at condition of oil and what was in it I’m glad I did. See pictures here.

How easy is it to get to everything when changing the oil?

Pretty easy. If you have ramps or something to lift car a little it helps. Hardest part is getting to filter but it’s honestly very easy.

Well I know how hard the filter was. They must have hired some guy from Iffy Lube to put that damn cap on with a power gun.

I changed mine out for a Aluminium from Burger MS yesterday.

Some rhino ramps right now but I’m not lowered or have a front lip. If and when I do either, I’ll probably have to get new ramps that have a smaller angle (racing ramps or equivalent) as I’m sure the Rhino ramps angle is too steep.

I had a lowered STi and had to go to the low profile race ramps. FWIW, the Race Ramps are so much nice and feel far more secure. I would not buy anything else after owning the Race Ramps.
