You in theory should be able to swap out the hardware (whole headlight assemblies) and code them however BimmerCode will not help. You will need to modify the Vehicle Order (VO) using either E-Sys, BimmerUtility or ProTool by BimmerGeek. This will allow you to tell the car (ECUs) that you have adaptive headlights installed.

That being said, I am not 100% sure if you will have the hardware to recognize when to turn on/off the brights. You might, do you see a camera in the windshield behind the rear view mirror?

I want to say you should be good but the lights will be expensive (obviously) and take a bit of work to install and code. Maybe someone else can chime in before you take the plunge.

If not, try asking on the G20 forums as there is usually more traffic over there. It looks like they also have similar headlight options (adaptive headlights are an option on their Shadowline package, does not mention it in Premium package) but beware that laser lights are something completely different that are no longer optioned on the 3 series and were never available on the 2 series

If that’s the case then it should be worth it regardless. I prefer the DRLs that come with the adaptive lights over the non-adaptive

Ideally you should modify the FA and add 552 and vo code.

Before spending $50-$80 on a Bluetooth or WiFi adapter, look into the OBD2 plugs with an Ethernet port, then get an Ethernet to usb-c or lightning cable adapter to connect it to your phone. I wish I had done this, as it’s cheaper and faster. Can anyone weigh in who’s done it this way?

I have an iPhone 14 Pro Max still with the Lightning port, but use this OBDII to ethernet cable:

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07Y5FJ695

and this ethernet to Lightning dongle:

https://www.amazon.com/Lighting-Ethe.../dp/B07VK8Q36S

Seems quick enough!!!

Thanks for confirming. I wish I had known this before spending $85 on the OBDLink CX.

Can you send the shop where you are going to send your headlights because I have the 2023 M2 and since it was in the show room I bought it and came with the Standard headlights and I also want to get the adaptive headlights 😮‍💨
