Black & white roundel/emblem aftermarket options (JB Speed or similar)

I’m looking for a set of black and white (front and rear) roundels for my PB M240. I’m liking this style (first pic) so far (without the outer circumference chrome accent). As opposed to the 2nd style.

Has anyone bought something similar and have a recommendation or feedback?

I found the (first) ones above at JB Speed who is a Bimmerpost vendor. Has anyone successfully bought anything from them? I cant really find any comments by members on Bimmerpost to help get confidence. They only have a gmail email address; that normally doesn’t give me confidence.

Otherwise I’ll probably just look on Aliexpress for something similar; it’s a pretty fair chance most of the roundels being sold are being sourced from there anyhow.

For reference, if anyone wants to know for future use, the standard OE G42 ones are:
FRONT/HOOD = 82MM = PN 51148087190
REAR/TRUNK = 82MM = PN 51148087193

Ok, so I found one user here who had bought a roundel set from JBSpeed and had some good feedback (did say he had one problem with a paint chip, but the supplier assisted). I had a few PM's back and forth with them to ask a few questions. Also had a bit of a read of reviews on their site etc. I think i'll just take a punt and order a set. Car is still waiting to ship out of Mexico so it may be a while before I report back on how they look on the car!

I bought a set from JB that I’ll put on the car when I pick it up next week. I went for the 50 Jahre. Only concern right now is that they have different pins on the back… and the front doesn’t seem to have a ‘locator’ to position the badge completely perfectly/vertically.

I’ll let y’all know when I sick ‘em on.

I don’t think the 50 year badges are Jahre (although jahre is translated years). The badges are 50 year anniversary of the M division. I believe Jahre is a bit more than the badges ie limited edition trim of a vehicle.

DON’T BUY THESE BADGES.

Wheel center ones are ok and fit.

Steering wheel doesn’t fit over existing badge—needs thicker tape, which of course, I will do.

Trunk badge is ok.

HOOD DOES NOT FIT.
I actually had a conversation with the seller a couple of months ago because I was worried because the back of the badge was different to the original. They assured me it would fit. Just picked up the car from PPF place and they put it on, but it barely stuck because of different alignment of pins on the badge and the car. Pretty disgusted tbh.

They all fitted just fine for me without any modifications.

Well that’s weird. Wonder if they supplied badges for the wrong vehicle?

As good a reason as any.

That’s annoying,so the only issue with them is the pins to align the front emblem?? I always get the ones from IND, but they are sold out without an eta.

They wouldn’t do what I asked for so I passed up on them! Found a set that’s hand painted and 3D printed for half the price. #Winning

I just wanted black and white instead of carbon fiber. They said they are too busy to accommodate the request. I get it,but at that price point I want what I want

Ok, so have had the car a couple of weeks now so thought I’d better loop back and give some feedback on the JB Speed ones I ordered.

From a distance they look good, but my recommendation is that if you are after an OE level product, perhaps there are better choices.

Turns out JB Speed appears to be a one man band and perhaps the quality claims aren’t backed up by the product. Dealing with JB Speed wasn’t too hard and had reasonably good comms and they combined shipping charges when I requested (I also went the wheel centre caps). But when I asked for details to back their claim of “You will be amazed by how great the quality is when you see it in person. It's definitely not the same quality as you see on ebay.” They just ignored the question. I still took a punt as IND didn’t have what I wanted and I think there prices are a little ambitious.

I ordered the front + rear roundel in black and white with black ring = USD95
https://www.jbspeed.com/bmw-black-wh...ood-trunk-set/

1st concern:
They arrived with the following instructions (for fitting the rear): “You might have to add some (some tape or adhensive) on the back of the base as well.”
Personally I don’t expect to have to stuff around like this. I expected them to be supplied with everything required. I expect this buying from Aliexpress/eBay etc, but not a “professional” operator. Luckily I have ample supply of 3M automotive grade double sided tapes here (and primer/cleaner) – most people wouldn’t though.

2nd concern:
The rear roundel wasn’t assembled. The inlay and the base were supplied separated. No mention of this when ordering. It also arrived with a scuff on it.
I don’t see why should a customer fit the bits together. Nor ensuring the alignment is correct. The response I got when I reached out to them about this (I assumed this was a mistake) was “The reason I didn’t put them together was because the tape of the top isn’t sticky enough, so it might fall off or fly away, that’s why I asked customer to add some tape or adhensive when they put it together.”. I bit poor if you ask me. If the tape isn’t sticky enough – source a better tape! Don’t leave it to the customer. I tried the thinnest 3M tape I have access to. No good, it makes the inlay sit proud. I asked them to send me a new one which wasn’t scuffed and fully assembled as expected. And they did. So good customer service for that. Hopefully it doesn’t “fly away”.

3rd concern:
I expected that the black outer ring would have been a paint process (or black chrome) over the raw ABS. Unfortunately this is not the case. They have sourced a standard chrome base and then the chrome has just been (wet) painted over with black paint. I have some experience in this through my professional background and the experts in this field advise that wet paint adhesion to chrome is very poor. Since I had a spare one to play with, I did a quick test and put the lowest tack painters tape I had on the edge of the ring and gently removed it. Sure enough paint came with it. I’m therefore not sure how long the outer ring paint will last.

They above is just my 2 cents to help anyone making their own decision.

I’ve attached some photos (the photo on the car doesn’t look great, its summer here but been raining all week!).

Similar story. This is my reply to their repeated email requests for photos and a review:

The badges didn’t fit. I posted this on the forum and I believe you deleted my post.

I had to Dremel the posts from the back of the front badge to make it fit over the locator holes on the hood. Therefore there was no way to make it 100% straight.

The back badge, while it fits ok, isn’t straight. The badge isn’t vertical. The black plastic backing on the badge is slightly rotated.

The steering wheel badge I had to add extra tape on top of what was already there to make it actually stick.

So no, I will not send you photos of them installed, as I am very disappointed in the badges and your responses so far. This is after you guaranteed that the badges would fit.

Aaaannnddddd, JBSpeed just deleted their thread on FOR SALE for the 50 Jahre badges, because I put a link there earlier to this thread…

Seems they really don’t want to deal with the problems.
