taking off badges... why this this glue so damn hard to remove
I used a hairdryer to heat the badge and used some floss. Maybe I went too quick. But maaan, this shit is hard to to take off. I'm using glue gone automotive and a microfiber cloth. Spent 10 mins getting nowhere.
Any tips? |

A whizzy wheel works great too. Used it to debadge my wife's X5 and the remnants of adhesive from old wheel weights. Don't go full speed on your drill or you'll burn your clear!

I've purchased two different ones mid 2021, and use both still: https://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B07...?ie=UTF8&psc=1 Also these are helpful for old vinyl removal together with glue solvent: https://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B07...0?ie=UTF8&th=1

heat helped me more than anything else, a heat gun or hair dryer.

Cold is another way to remove adhesive. Cold can make adhesive brittle. So holding an ice pack against it may help.
Some underseat subwoofers especially in BMW Base audio systems are glued into the plastic subwoofer housings. An easy fix is to remove the entire housing and place in the freezer for 1-2 hours. The adhesive becomes brittle so it’s easy to work a plastic trim tool around the edge of the subwoofer to pop it out of the housing. |

That wizzy wheel is worth every penny of the 18 bucks I paid. Thanks for recommending! There was no way I'd get the glue off with a cloth and adhesive remover.

Hi! I removed badges with fishing line, few zips and they are gone. Some alcoholcto remove the rest of glue and that's it. 5 seconds job little polishing if needed.

What year is your car? On my 2018 that glue was really on there. I used a hair dryer and dental floss but there was so much left on the paint. I spent awhile with automotive goo gone but it was almost useless. The wizzy wheel got it off easily though.

If using lines, the safest (non-marring the paint) is to use heat gun and then - regular floss. I've heard that the fishing line could carry the dust/dirt along and scratch the paint.

Realistically a quick flash would be fine, a long soak would degrade the clear IMHO. Remember your clear is around 0.02mm in thickness, if you chemical burn the top you don't have a huge amount underneath to strip by polishing.
Personally I've always rolled the stuff off with my thumbs slowly. If you're doing a huge area it can leave you with blisters but I'll take that over my first try with a toffee wheel on my first car I had never used one before and burnt straight through the paint lol.
