Porsche vs BMW let’s gooo!

We’ve got our hands on the almighty, all-new Porsche 911 GT3 RS, and it’s going up against one of the most hardcore BMWs money can buy - the all-new BMW M3 CS! The question is, does this track-focused Porsche have what it takes to bring down the BMW?

Well, let’s take a closer look at the stats. Starting with the Porsche, it’s powered by a 4-litre naturally-aspirated flat-six that can produce 525hp and 465Nm of torque. Power is sent to the rear wheels via a 7-speed automatic gearbox, and being a track-focused car, it’s super light, weighing in at just 1,450kg!

But all this power & performance doesn’t come cheap, with the GT3 RS starting from £190,000! What’s more, the one we have here has the Weissach Pack fitted, so it costs around £235,000!

Then we have the BMW M3 CS. It has the same 3-litre twin-turbo straight-six as in the regular M3, but power has been increased to 550hp and 650Nm. This power is sent to all four wheels via an 8-speed automatic gearbox, and the car is a fair bit heavier than the GT3, at 1,765kg. It’s a fair bit cheaper, though, costing around £116,000.

So the BMW has more power, but will the weight prove decisive? There’s only one way to find out… LET’S RACE!

Is it just me? I find this pretty impressive. Yes, the best cars aren't necessarily the fastest in a straight line, but given the significant price delta and the typical use case for most of us (not on a track), the M3 does quite well. I'd like to see how a non-CS M3x does against the GT3RS as I think the price delta there will really make even more sense versus the performance delta.

I was just about to post a similar thing lol. I fast forwarded to the actual content, and then sat and asked who would actually drag race these two cars? If it were a turbo S then I could maybe understand that but I guess it’s for the views these days.

It is what it is - entertainment - and fun to watch. By the way, if you had a CS and your best buddy had an RS you wouldn't do a fun run? I'm a track guy who finds drag racing boring but don't see anything wrong with this content.

Doesn’t matter if you like the content or not, people like him have changed the car industry for the better (for us buyers), if they need to do these for $$$ or for the fun of it, I am all for it.

Iirc my Z4M is 3200 and slow as molasses 20 years is a long time I suppose

To me quick is quick. As long as your vehicle has the amount of output to give you smiles per gallon (or charge) that's all that really matters.

Not sure what you’re on about. 29 years is a long time. A 335 hp rated B58 and a ZF8 in that chassis would lop a good second off the similarly powered S54.
