The story.......... Always a story!!


2023 M4 CSL arrived to the dealer late Oct 2022.
The owner of the BMW Dealership was a true car enthusiast & was interested in keeping this CSL allocation for his own collection...
The CSL stayed in the dealers showroom until May 2023 when he decided to list the car for sale | 13km on it | Never registered | Brand new.

I couldn't pass this up...
1st owner | New car | 13KM | I bought it immediately sight unseen.

Took delivery of the car 3 days later
I like to work with quick timelines | Seasons are short here in Canada.

Nearly 2200km on the car 8 weeks later...
Coming from a G83 M4 some obvious differences can be felt right away. Short story - Its amazing!!!

G83 is + 300lbs on a Regular G82
CSL is -250lbs on a Regular G82
Weight savings for me was nearly 550lbs for me which is considerable.

Sound & Performance.
You can definitely hear things more on the inside | Less sound insulation - IMO the way a sports car should be.
You can hear pebbles hitting the underside
The exhaust tone comes in louder & higher pitched compared to my G83.

I added the AA Single Midpipe
It increased the tone of the exhaust by 70% - No Drone - Love it
I ended up adding a Dahler Valve controller - This keeps the flaps open 100% (Just unplugging them keeps them opening 60%)
Great combination

The CSL feels much more responsive.
Puts down the power to the rear wheels nicely.
The Stiffer engine/tranny mounts make a difference.
Less weight & more power = good combo
The CUP2R tires do hook well in dry weather.
The Transmission shifts quicker - Updated BMW software for the CSL - HUGE Difference.
Most aggressive shifts are jarring both on up and down shifts.

CSL Fixed Carbon Buckets | Interior
The CSL's Manually adjustable Carbon Buckets are comparable in comfort to the Electronically adjustable Carbon Buckets.
I think I might even like the CSL's fixed buckets more because the side bolster is a little longer. Maybe it's just me.
The additional carbon near the head rest area and the CSL writing on the seat bracket are beautiful touches - Great attention to detail.

The Center console in full carbon is very tastefully completed.
The OEM rear seat delete with helmet pockets is a great look in the rear.
I loved the OEM Steering wheel look - I was worried about the Alacantara wear overtime (my OCD)
Previously I had the 6 button QR KMP Wheel in my M2C - I ended up adding a 10 button QR KMP Wheel to the CSL
*Plug & Play install - Quick and easy!

What are the plans for this car/build: OEM+
May 2023 - Leave it as stock as possible and enjoy the nostalgia of the CSL Model.
Dec 2023 - Well I've added a few mods | $40-$50K's worth.
I just love making the car unique to my liking.
This did not last long.......

Modifications are:


Exterior:
XPEL PPF
iND color matched front reflectors
iND Acexxon slotted rear reflector inserts
MHC Carbon Side skirts
MHC Carbon extensions(Rear)

Wheels/Tires/Suspension
AST HAS Suspension (Ordered Moton's ETA March 28th 2024)

I love the OEM+ Look | Stock (827M) wheels are so tasteful

20" CSL Rim up front | 20" CSL rim in the rear
285/30/20 | 295/30/20 CUP2R Setup

20" BBS LM's - Hand Brushed + Clear Centers | Polished lips
285/30/20 | 305/20/30 PS4s Setup
*These used to be blue/black centers with polished lip

This is my delimma
Just know that the mid pipe is CSL/CS specific in that it is a slip fit to the titanium muffler. My general rule as I've been modding my CSL is to stick with bolt-ons and avoid cutting anything. I went with catless DPs and the AWRON valve controller to satisfy my thirst for more aggressive exhaust notes. I thought about having a shop customize a titanium midpipe that fully replaces the unique CSL/CS midpipe - something very similar to the Valvetronic unit but slips onto the OEM muffler versus their box. However, that would be more motivated by weight reduction as I'm perfectly happy with my current exhaust volume and sound.

I totally appreciate this information!! I'm so new to the CSL Model
I had no idea about that exhaust difference.
I know the rear portion is titanium etc but did not know about the slip fit etc.. I might go the valve controller route - I've never done DP

Any G8x midpipe will install the same way, it just requires cutting like a non-CSL/CS does. Didnt mean to suggest they don't work, just that replacing that pipe in the future to return to stock may be pricey. Or, if you don't care just have the shop weld back in the cut piece should you want to return to 'psuedo-stock'. It just wont be original CSL anymore, which you may not care about!

This is interesting I just realized, the CSL comes equipped standard with CCB and red calipers as opposed to gold as we’re all used to seeing?
