Best place for M3 Tires

Hello,
I need a set of front and back tires for my M3, the Michelins...

BMW are threatening to charge me $2500 with the tires themselves costing around $1800.

Where do people go for a more cost effective option?
I live in the Bay Area in CA.
Many thanks
Adi

I’ve had luck negotiating tire prices with the dealer parts department so you may want to give that a shot.

Not to hijack the thread, but ...two places I went to said an alignment should be done with 4 new tires (one was the dealer so, of course, they'd love the extra vig). Thoughts?.

Are there any good all season tire options ?

I never heard you need alignment with every tire change.

Tire Rack .. been patronizing them for 35+ years. Once a family business, they're now a part of Discount Tire. Competitive pricing, vast inventory, solid expertise, great service.

I always do an alignment if I’m replacing 2 or more tires at a time. Why not to make sure the new tires wear as they should? No brainer to me.

100%. I’m not sure what people’s deal with not getting an alignment when they change the tires? It’s $150ish, for a $2,000 set of tires, to make sure they wear evenly. If you’re driving the car enough to wear out a set of 30,000 mile tires, you definitely need an alignment.

You can get the car aligned, drive 2 miles and hit a pothole, and your alignment is shit, again. I guarantee people aren’t going in and getting their alignment checked, everytime they hit a pothole.

Bad camber doesn’t kill tires anywhere near as bad as having your toe off. Imagine having a rear tire toed out 10° you’re literally dragging that rear tire down the street. It’s like riding a bicycle and putting your right foot on the ground and just letting it drag down the street.

In Austin, there is an option to have them shipped to a mobile installer. They came to my house. It was awesome. I’ll never buy tires any other way.

Not sure how common this is beyond Austin.

Wow. Not sure how comfortable I’d be having them come to my house and do it. And also they can’t do an alignment. But that’s pretty cool

When you check out of Tire Rack, it gives you a list of installers to have them shipped to.

Also, if you live/work near a tirerack warehouse (Like me in Atlanta), you can pick up your tires and save a little ($10/tire I think). You can also inspect them and make sure the date codes are appropriate, etc.

My dealer did the same. They have a "tire guy" who came close to the Discount Tire/Americas Tire price. The dealer gives me a loaner as well, so I don't care how long they take etc.

And y’all trust these independent shops to work on your cars? And do alignment?

Who did your tires and do they have a touchless machine? Mind sharing cost as well? I’m in Austin too and still haven’t found a place that I have been happy with.

https://gomotires.com/atx/

I don’t remember the price, it was more expensive, but worth it imo. At checkout on TireRack, it tells you the price.

I’m not sure what type of machine, but my neighbor who is super into cars said he was impressed with their process.
