Honestly, I'd rather do Portimao blue over this, or other BMW Blues. I'm not a huge fan of Sapphire. Looks good here but in person it looks a little washed out.

Looks very close to estoril! Maybe a slight shade darker. Looks awesome with kyalami.

What does that mean "Porsche color"? I often see this mentioned and don't know what it exactly means as I'm new to the BMW world.

One correction if I may. Although the X-drive may add a touch of weight, it actually improves the 0-60 MPH numbers / figures. In the beginning of this video clip you stated it hurts 0-60 MPH times. The launch control system in the AWD G80 M3 can step out from a dig in 1st gear while the RWD G80 M3 has to launch in 2nd gear for traction.

Also, where do you shoot these roof top photos... ? I've been to the rooftop at Mountain View BMW before for a new M allocation inspection. But it doesn't have that much space up there. Thank you in advance!

The hurting 0-60 times was referring to the added weight of the xDrive badge--a joke.

I take them a few miles away to downtown Mountain View off of Castro in the public parking garage

a color that comes from Porsche. There are many colors that come from other brands like Nardo Grey (Audi), Chalk (Porsche), Verde Ermes (Lambo)

Whoah! Having owned a sapphire blue porsche, I can attest that pictures do NOT do the color justice. It does look close to estoril in these pics, but in person, it's far more vibrant. Especially when properly pampered with some high end product, sapphire sparkles like it's namesake.

Awesome. Had no idea this was on the individual list. I'd still go with violet blue, myself, but bravo.

It doesn’t have to be on the individual list for BMW to do it, you can request pretty much any color, whether or not they do it depends on a few factors and potentially extra costs, but it can be done.

Thanks for replying. So they source the paint from Porsche or whatever manufacturer, or the 'formula' to reproduce it? I find this fascinating and will be looking more into it.

Very nice, although, I still think San Marino, is the BMW Blue to have. I would have specd it with Ivory, myself.

To request a paint, you’ll need the 3 character paint code. If BMW hasn’t done it before, they’ll try and reproduce it and test it. Last time I checked for a customer it was $5K

That's actually not bad at all, considering "approved" colors are already $4500.

If I recall, it’s $5k additional, to test the paint.

Interesting. So what happens once BMW tests and approves a color? It gets added to the Individual list of colors?

Yes, and then is at the lower cost to option ($4,500 on G8x cars).

Cool, thank you all for bearing with me. I come from the Subaru world so you can imagine this is all new to me.

Hope some day I'm in the position to get my own Individual M car

I see what you're saying now & my apologies. I'm a little German, so we sometimes take things too seriously. Not on purpose though but naturally by nature. Once people explain they're simply joking, then we loosen up & begin to look at things differently. LOL

And I will have to try this parking garage soon. So it's easier to find - Do you happen to know what the closest cross street is to this Castro Street parking garage location... ?

Technically, the parking garage is at California and Bryant (CVS is at the bottom of the garage). 343 Bryant St
