Lightbulb "Individual Composition" option ending soon for M3 & M4

BIMMERPOST
     Featured on BIMMERPOST.com
!!!Before responding read my comment lower in the thread!!!

UPDATE:

Good example of taking my one-line updates to the main thread out of context and just too soon, before I had a chance to double check myself.

Here's the situation in detail.

BMW is taking away the "Individual Composition" option for all M3s and M4s as of 7/1/23. For good, LCI included. I have no idea how this option is used. It's not something you check the box for when ordering, it's not an option I see on existing cars with individual paints and other individual things, but it could be a hidden requirement for them. Or maybe it's nothing. Maybe someone with access to the actual dealership ordering tool can look into this and explain.

Oh the burden of reputation...

ORIGINAL POST

If you care about Individual for M3 / M4, place your orders soon.

From today's update @ https://g80.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh...d.php?t=901686
  • Individual program seems be wrapping up for M3 and M4. If you want it, place your orders for production before July.

So is this referring to individual paint colors? Like the ones that people pay several thousand to get a 1 off color?

I feel like the title is a bit misleading, technically everytime “individual is ending” it means there is a refresh coming up, AKA you can not individualize a Pre-LCI as they will only be allowing you to individualize their new LCI version, either way we need an option to individualize that new stupid iDrive screen back to the old one.

Just because the LCI is coming. It’ll be back I’m sure.

It’s literally the poster child for the program, and the M2 probably won’t allow it.

Has to be. BMW has been expanding the individual program. That’s the only realistic explanation.

Probably, most likely just because they have to retool the factory and such. But I don't think lci will happen this year, probably will be a 2025 MY since the m3cs is going into production with the current body style in March.

Is it ending for the remainder of the G8x production cycle or just until the LCI models arrive?

If the former, that’s a big change as don’t we have another 4-5 years left for the G8x generation?

Why wouldn’t the M2 allow for it after they ramp up production? The plant was designed so as to allow for individual paint applications.

Why would you say that ? All reports indicate that SLP will offer individual paints on M2 at some point down the line. AFAIK the San Luis plant has the most advanced paint booth system of any BMW manufacturing plant

The LCi changeover for individual colors is March. This must be something else.

chicagofan00 looks like G80 production until 06/27, so a little over 4 years from now and about 5 until we see the new M3

I imagine this is becoming untenable. Porsche had to shut down PTS for the whole year.

Makes zero sense with EOP an other 5 years away. I’m sure that every EV model
will have full individual options.

Maybe, but I also heard from some insider info that dealers can't promise delivery dates anymore and that new orders might take up to a year to be delivered, so who knows, might just be they don't want to add any more time to production.

If so it will be short lived, as what goes up, must come down. BMW prided itself on the individual program. This wouldn’t be the 1st time that the US BMW Dealership Council aka stealerships killed off a good thing, such as the ED program.

Just like that program, these special programs don’t work if every single order tries to add individual paint.

I called around recently looking for a few Porsches. Lots of allocation available now cause no one wants a Porsche unless it’s a PTS color.

Driving is now secondary and showing off your special paint spec at “cars and coffee” is the primary reason to buy a Porsche.
