G82 Comp xDrive Individual Rosso Corsa
Hi guys. I've been meaning to upload pics of my car ever since delivery last summer but I'm not too active on here. So, better late than never!
As you can see by my sig, my BMW history goes back 23 years. This is my eighth BMW overall (fourth new one; third new one I've ordered). I last had a 2017 M4 Comp in Silverstone I bought off the showroom floor because the deal was too good to pass up. But my favorite color for cars has always been bright red, so I said I'd go all out on my next one and do an Individual order in Rosso Corsa. So that's what I did! Order dates: Allocation/ordered: Jan 10, 2022 Built: May 5, 2022 Sat at the factory for no GD reason: six weeks Delivery: July 29, 2022 Build details: 2022 G82 Comp xDrive Rosso Corsa Full Merino black leather Driver Assistance Pro Executive Package M Drive Professional M Shadowline Lights Carbon Fiber interior trim M Carbon buckets Icon laser lights Wireless charging M Carbon Exterior Package Carbon fiber side grilles (accessory) Red calipers 825M Orbit Grey wheels So basically I checked every box but the carbon ceramics. I mistakenly did not check the box for the Parking Assistance Package. I did not know you needed the Parking Assistant Plus package for the front and surround view/mirror cameras. By the time I learned this, the car was on the boat. So that'll annoy me forever but I like not having the "mole" front camera in between my grills... (I would gladly swap the worthless wireless charger for the cameras, though!) Also, I wanted Tartufo brown leather for the traditional red over brown look, but that is the ONE leather color the carbon buckets do not come in. Interesting fact: Although BMW calls it "Rosso Corsa," the Ferrari paint name for "racing red," you'll notice the paint tag also says "JapanRot." JapanRot is an old BMW color; my first two E46s were JapanRot, or Electric Red. So the bright red is nothing special per se, unlike some of the other Individual colors, which have no BMW history whatsoever. EDIT: Llarry pointed out below that JapanRot was likely the basecoat to the Rosso Corsa. The More You Know! Anyway, here are delivery pics from the dealership:

Note: I am disabled and use the hand control under the steering column for the gas (twist) and brake (push). I steer with my right hand. My wheelchair wheels and frame go in the back seat. I'll post a video some time of how I do it.

I also bought a set of 826M wheels for track use (thanks again, MarineRaider!). They look sweet but holy hell are they a PITA to clean. Last year I managed to get one full day and one half day (rain shortened) in at Grattan Raceway. This thing is a beast. With only one real track day under my belt with it, I am already two full seconds faster around Grattan than I ever was with my F82.

Agreed. Bright red and sports cars go together. It chaps my ass that BMW doesn't keep a traditional, non-metallic red in their standard color palette, especially for M cars. Porsche has Guards Red, Corvette has Torch Red, Ferrari has Rosso Corsa, Audi has Misano Red, etc. Melbourne Red is ok, but it's kind of orange and it's metallic. Toronto Red should be called Toronto Orange Metallic (sorry, TR guys). Imola Red was the last non-metallic red BMW offered. I would have probably checked the box for IR and saved $3,750 if it was offered as a standard color, but oh well...

Dude, nice 458. I'd like to see my M4 next to a RC Ferrari and compare the reds. Like I said in the OP, mine is actually just JapanRot, an old BMW color...

Very nice.
Appreciate the pic of the side grills. I checked that option too. I like TR. I think the slight orange is going to look good with the brushed bronze wheels on mine. I do agree and complained when ordering that white is the only non-metallic offered base color |

The discussion of various reds in this thread reminds me that we have several excellent comparisons on the forum of the variations in blue, but none of the reds. I would love to see Rosso Corsa compared in the same photo to Imola Red or Toronto Red or other red paints. And I concur with the sentiment that high-performance cars and red paint go together. Kudos to the OP for his choice!
Note to BMW AG: Bring back Imola Red. Do a (minor) reformulation if necessary and call it Imola Red II. Just do it.

The problem is pics do not do the various shades of red (or blue) justice. The distinct orange hue in Toronto Red does not show in pics. You really have to see them in person and preferably out in the light. |

Agreed. I saw an F82 Heritage Edition at my dealership a couple years ago in IR and it was beautiful. Like I said, I probably would have went with that color if it would have been offered as a standard, no-cost option. I would have liked having a traditional color that has history with BMW, not Ferrari. And I would have saved $3,750.

I ordered Rosso since I can't stand Toronto Orange and how it's the only standard red on M cars now. I may have gone with Cinabar now that Jahre colors are on the Visualizer but I'd be happy with either. Looks like Rosso is metallic on the Visualizer but uni on your car?
