I like the look of the 18" M Sport wheels(which are standard for M Sport package,
unless one chooses 19" M Sport wheels), but are the 225/55/18 tires too small?
The 19" and 20" optional wheels come with the wider 245 tires with lower aspect ratio.

I prefer the look over the 19" M Sport wheel... not sure why...

is there a noticeable difference between the performance of 225(18") and 245(19") tires?

I would have been really tempted to go with the 20s if they offered all seasons; those are by far the best looking wheels offered on the X1.

i think with 19 it would be very harsh depending on the tire. I have 18s in my wife's old 328i and 19s in my new 5 series and honestly you get past the look after a few days. well i at least drive the drive from sitting inside. I'd take the additional comfort of the 18 anyday

Why there is a M badge on the tire not on X1's body in US?

What’s the aspect ratio on your 5 Series’ tires?

I also have a 3 Series with 18s, but both those 18s and my X1 19s are 45 series aspect ratio, so I don’t find the 19s to be any harsher of a ride

Some would ask why there’s an M badge on any car that’s not really an “M”……

18" do look small on X1. If you have any option, go for 19" at a minimum.

I was thinking about getting 17s for winter tires because here we have alot of snows. The wheels wouldnt be that visible in the winter so my idea was to get 17s as it will be like 1-2k less than 18s. My summer tires are 18s.

If I can justify the expense, I'll most likely be replacing my 18" M Sport wheels with some aftermarket 19" wheels. I also realize I should've ordered the performance tires with the wheels instead of the all weather tires since the most I have to deal with here is the occasional torrential downpour.
