Question Hesitation from dead stop?

Not that I hold Consumer Reports in high regard when it comes to vehicle reviews, but there was one comment in the below video (at about 13'08") that I wanted to ask about. From a complete stop, they noticed that there is a hesitation from when you press the accelerator pedal to when the car gets going. Has anyone experienced this on their U11 with the 2-liter turbo gasoline engine?

Also, is there a way to permanently disable auto stop-start?

Thanks!

It's noticeable, but after a few days, it was pretty easy to adjust to it so the impact is minimal. I've had a few other cars (turbos and non-turbos) that have the same issue, so I'm used to it.

As of now, there's no way to permanently defeat the stop/start, and unfortunately, there's no hard button to press to turn it off every time. You could also switch to Sport Mode, but again, you can't make Sport Mode the default.

With stop/start off there is still a slight delay. From what I have read here, it's due to the dct.

In Sport Mode, is the delay any better?

I was watching a comparison video between the Audi Q3 and the BMW X1 and noticed that the car switches into sport mode if you use the gear selector and pull it from D into S, or use the paddle shifters (for M Sport models). That could be one option to start off in Sport mode without going into the menus to switch.

Have noticed the hesitation too. Doesnt happen in Sport mode.

Interesting the trade offs that the designers of this make, especially given the aggressive price point of this car. There is a lot here for the money.

My F32 430i has a noticeable dead spot in the throttle from a dead stop unless I’m in sport mode as well, and that has a ZF 8 speed auto, so I don’t think it’s purely a DSG thing. I’ll have to compare when I actually take delivery of the X1, whenever that is.

Is there a chance that eventually we'll be able to permanently turn it off using something like Carly or similar?

I would assume once the car's out for a bit, folks will figure out how to code the X1 like other BMWs.

Do they react the same when coming off the gas to turn a 90 degree corner for example then pressing the pedal to accelerate away again? Is there a slight delay in uptake?
I hope not. Range Rover sports used to suffer this and put me right off the driving experience.
Which power trains are doing this? Petrol or diesel?

hmm, I'm curious, were there any specific tradeoffs you noticed that would be of interest to the community here...

Finally had a chance to test drive the X1 today. Nice car overall, but the hesitation from a stop is absolutely awful. I think this is going to be a deal breaker for me.

Gasoline 2.0 turbo. That's the only engine option we have available here in the States.

I test drove a BMW X1 and hesitation is a non issue for me after 10 min. I adapted to give a bit more gas at start. I am sure there will be mods to turn off stop start permanently in half a year or so.

Ah i see. Thanks for the reply.
I am interested in the 23d which is the 211bhp diesel so i am hoping it doesn't suffer the same problem here in the Uk.

Giving it more gas made absolutely no difference for me. I could floor it, and it would still take its sweet time to get moving. Absolutely unacceptable.

Even in Sport mode, there was some hesitation, but not as bad.

I just pressed the "My Modes" button in the switch console, and then pressed "Sport" on the screen.
