STILL a stop sale as of Dec 27?

I ordered my X1 in mid August. It went into production mid Sep. Then it got stuck in Quality Control check for 4 weeks, I assumed because they were fixing the relevant stop sale stuff. Car landed at the port in Georgia 4 weeks ago. My BMW salesman says he just called the Performance Center as I’m taking PCD and it still has a stop sale on it so they can’t schedule a delivery date until the stop sale is lifted. And they’re booking over a month out, so once the stop sale is lifted, it will be at least another month. Never had so many delays ordering a BMW before and starting to think maybe I’ll just go with a different car OR order another X1 from a different dealership. This happening to anyone else or do I have a lemon?

Do you know what is causing the stop sale? Others in US are getting delivered. Do the details show up on the BMW Recall site?

Other threads here mention that a PCD delivery adds time. Instead of ordering from a different dealership, how about getting it delivered to the dealer you ordered from.

No idea. When I look up the VIN at https://bmw-recall-tool.netlify.app/ I get two defect codes but have no idea what these defect does mean:

0012790500
0061370700

U need to go at dealer and only they can tell you what is behind them.
But since the code is not STOP and some numbers it means they are waiting parts

Figured I’d chime in as I’m basically in the same waiting game boat. Ordered/built X1 went into Production 8/3/22. Arrived @ POA in NJ on 10/14/22. Scheduled for re-call (I think sunroof drain not 100% sure) and 3 software updates. Ready for delivery on 11/3/22. Was scheduled to pick up at the dealer 11/12/22. Received a call from my CA stating its being delayed for a week. Long story short I still haven’t received the car to this day. I’m being told they (apparently someone @ the POA I’m assuming ) lost one of the key fobs. BMW policy is vehicle must be completely re-keyed for 2 new fobs. I’m assuming drivers side door, glove box, trunk. No word on estimated/actual delivery date for weeks.

Having lost a key fob on a previous car, the experience with it was similar - needed to completely re-key it. Was an expensive mistake.

Curious about how keys are handled during shipping. I presumed they just left them in the car but secured the perimeter as humans managing keys seems ripe for something to get lost or mixed up.

Sorry that you are in key purgatory.

I know I'm going to regret asking this....

but how expensive was the "expensive" mistake?

back when I dropped the smart key to my Mercedes E wagon, the dealer charged $125 for a single key. It was ready to go when I picked it up, no programming necessary.(not sure why) Then the smart key sensor(or whatever it was called) went bad a couple of years later. The dealer said it required replacing all three smart keys that came with the car AND also 4 key sensing modules and 1 computer. Cost was $3900(which included the 6 hours of labor), but fortunately it was covered by the Deutsche Financial extended warranty that I bought. It was just 4 months before the 7-year warranty was about to expire. Did have to pay a $100 deductible.

$400? This forum does not have enough space for me to post all the $400+ mistakes that I've made in my life. most recently, tossing out a brand-new Apple IIe computer in original SEALED box that was stored in my basement for over 35 years... I was moving to a new house and I thought the old computer was worth nothing. my friend's Apple fanboy son told me that it would have easily sold for $3000 or more.
