Those are actually mirror projectors. They are located on both the driver and passenger side mirrors and project when you open the door. The puddle light projectors are separate and are part #63-31-2-463-924. I just installed them on our X1 MSport that we took delivery today and they came with projector slides with the 50th Jahre BMW Symbol and MSport logos.
I actually hope we can turn off the mirror projectors since they both come on at the same time... Something to explore. Last edited by SeekTheFinest; 12-08-2022 at 03:52 PM.. Reason: Incorrect information |

this part number is $129 MSRP on BMWPartsDirect though it looks to be something different as the picture there has it projecting from the door, not the mirror.
My Countryman has these so was a feature I didn't want to lose. Wasn't aware of this "port installed feature" thing. |

Us spec. And mine did not go to a port. Straight from factory, short train ride, then dealer.

Driver & passenger or just driver side?
I believe the original thread answered this question as the pics in there showed the passenger side. Cool! Last edited by Speedbird71; 12-08-2022 at 02:42 PM.. |

I'm hoping there's a way to either code them out and use the door puddle lights, or change them out for a different design. I'm not sure how I feel about the current style.

I feel like BMW needs to pay me $14.99 per month in subscription fee for doing advertising for them.(with the BMW projected on the ground for others to see)

It's too generic. Now if they displayed the actual BMW roundel that would be cool. My Dad's Lincoln displays only the Lincoln logo on the ground as you approach the car. Very subtle and very classy.

You can install the puddle lights that have the actual BMW roundel, which will show up when you open the door. These are actually projected from the mirrors when the car unlocks.

Is this something you can get from your dealer, or is this after market, go find it on your own kind of thing?

The ones I purchased were from BMW Silver Spring (getBMWParts.com) https://www.getbmwparts.com/oem-part...mm-63312463924 They are easy to install. Pop off the puddle light cover with a flat-blade screwdriver, pull out the existing light, and reconnect the new one. These use slides that can be changed with different graphics. The ones I received in my order have 50 Jahre BMW logos and MSport logos. |
