This is effective for January 1st production forward. The main page of Bimmerpost has a full breakdown of increases by models.

But if you order before Jan 1st, do you still have to pay that?

just saw that.... it also says 3/23 for U11 X1. (while it's 1/23 for almost all the BMW models) Does that mean the increase only applies to X1 production starting from 3/23?

Seems so. Honestly, should've been priced 500 higher out-the-gate rather than do it mid-year. Must've really wanted to tout a lower price point for the first few months.

That seems to be the case.

I guess this is consolation to early buyers that may have wanted features not offered then but are now.

That seems to be the case.
talked to the salesman and sales manager this afternoon. apparently they changed their mind and had to charge us $1000 extra.($500 for each of the two X1 ordered)

Production is expected in January. When asked about the 3/23 date on the MSRP increase sheet, they said that January production meant delivery in March, so the $500 increase was correct.

not sure if waiting another couple more month to order may be warranted.

the BMW sales manager said that when the BMWUSA's Regional Product Trainer(not even sure what that means) visited them on Friday, he mentioned that the full real leather seat option might be available as soon as late February production. Real leather seats was always available in German and most parts of the world... not sure why they left out that option for the US. Not enough cows could be slaughtered?

My family has two X1 on order, both January production. Not sure if we want to cancel and wait another month to place the orders again for February production in order to get leather seats.

I'd say they are just looking for $1000 profit as based on reading the notice it seems to indicate the revised pricing is based on vehicles starting production on that date.

Using their logic, a car built last month, but stuck somewhere in the system, and not delivered until March would have the additional $500 tacked on.

ETA: I just checked with my CA and he confirmed that as long as my order is in production by March I don't get hit by the price increase.

I hope I don't get an email from BMW USA like

"Dear customer, due to the shortage of vital parts, your X1 production will unfortunately be delayed until March 2. Thank you for your understanding in this difficult time for everybody. By the way, please send extra $500 to your ordering dealer"

Don't think that can happen? My home builder tried that stunt on me last year. Fortunately, I got my best friend's daughter(just fresh out of law school) to write them a very "nice" letter explaining my intention to seek legal action. They "cancelled" the fake delay and didn't ask me for the $27,000 extra money. They were building over 200 new house and I couldn't imagine how many people just ponied up the extra $27,000 without giving it a second though.

Of course it can happen. You don't have an enforceable contract with the dealer to buy that car. The 100% could do that if they wanted and there's nothing you could do about it other than bash them on line.

BMW probably figured that nobody would fight them over a $500 increase.

too bad very few current BMW models can command $15,000 to $20,000 markup like the Honda Civic Type- R. My idiot friend did just that. Ok, maybe he's an idiot with money to throw around? When he lets me drive it for a few days, I will stop badgering him for having paid $16500 markup to get his Civic. I was more offended when he demanded that we take off our shoes to get into his new Civic. Am I the only one who thinks it's crazy to pay almost $70,000 for a Civic, even if it's a fast one?

The X1 "could" command a markup - not $20,000 though. If a RAV4 is getting $5-$10K over MSRP, BMWs could too. No doubt.

But for $70K, sorry, I'm getting an M340 or an S5.

so my BMW dealer is nice and decent by having a giant sign that says "We never sell above MSRP!"??? Or do they just not like money?

The BMW dealer here is pretty much the only dealer on the island that ISN'T charging a markup. Toyota here is run by Servco though, who deal directly with Toyota of Japan and have an exclusive contract with them. It's why our RAV4's are imported from Japan and not made in the US like most of the 48 states (is what I've been told). They do have a markup, but it's about $1,000-$1,500 across all models, and that was for years now, not just because demand is crazy. I briefly considered a GR Corolla but I think I may be getting too old for that to be my daily driver.
