RBR is probably one of the most underrated automotive YouTube channels. Not many get better than this.

Honestly speaking. I agree.
He's one of my favorite British reviewers, he gets the job done, doesn't nitpick too much like Matt (or Mat?) Watson. Nothing against carwow, but they are picky on almost everything. A car doesn't let you rev all the way up, bad! Like bruh at least be grateful that the car still has an sound!

It's already a classic. And better looking than anything before it. Even the rear.

I really want to fit those tailights and headlights on the base model M4… 😭

Taillights can be fitted. With the headlights, you can just swap out the DRL boards. The only difference is, when the real CSL headlights come on, the yellow LEDs revert to white. These stay yellow.

BMW did say in a PowerPoint slide (which has been in some other threads) they were retiring the GTS badge for CSL before they made this car but it was more a badge swap.

In the "CSL story", the M2 CSL had a cage and wing.

I think BMW ultimately just figured that people didn't want the best version of the final ICE M3/M4 to be a winged track-rat car. As the F80 GTS was very good but no one bought it. And when you look to Porsche, people always buy Tourings over winged cars.

I will say people love the way this car looks, I got tons of thumbs up, jaw drops from kids, etc when driving around this weekend.

Always like RBR reviews and I've just watched it.

I've done total of 300miles in my CSL now and I love it. Certainly is a drivers car which if should be.

Is it a light weight? Well it's certainly lighter to drive than stock M4 and a lot more enjoyable. 100kg can't be sniffed at!

Great honest review and very interesting points…. Where will we be in 5 - 10 years?

I love the looks, drive! Is it perfect no but what car is!?! Certainly not disappointed which I honestly was with my M5 CS!

R.I.P GTS
2010-2022
Was fun 12 years.

That said, I am glad they made this regardless. I can't wait for M3 CS.

The two GTSs were amazing cars, Catchpole said in the first issue of Werke, the only reason the e92 GTS looked so aftermarket is cause M sold the BMW board on the fact that it was just an options pack to get it approved (when it definitely was much more than that).

I know a few F80 GTS owners that loved their cars, but they lost a bunch of value that never came back. The front splitter, the manual suspension, the cage, the wing, the water injection system, it was just too much stuff that people never used it as a road car (so it was never coveted on the secondary market).

Despite what some of these reviews say, the CSL is definitely a really good road car (my wife and I took a 3 hr drive Saturday and our car has the manual buckets, we were both super comfortable). I'm sure the CS will be too.

The 20+ thumbs up I got this weekend says otherwise. Chris Harris said in his article that kids seemed to love it.

I agree with you, it's not a classic look in my eyes. But I pulled into a BMW dealer this weekend to check out an M5 CS I was thinking of buying. A bunch of kids ran over the check out the CSL and asked why it was here and I said I was here to check out an M5 CS. They were like "why would you want an ugly car like that when you have this."

As Chris Harris said, BMW is on to something with the younger generation.

It really is a great production piece. Specifics are discussed. 2kg, near 4.41lb less per wheel is a considerable amount of reduced unsprung weight.

Especially since the CCBS are already 13kg lighter.

Far from it. All the people have going on that still talk about how it looks are just part of the me too movement. "Oh, it's ugly. Oh, yeah, me too."

Who cares? Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. If he loves it, that's all that really matters.
