Taking Delivery of my 50 Jahre Techno Violet G80 M3
Featured on BIMMERPOST.com Full disclosure, I wasn't going to get a G80. I prefer smaller, lighter cars, and the new M3 doesn't fit that bill. I also don't need to explain my distaste for the front bumper. There is zero chance it's going to grow on me. The best I can hope is that I just don't look at it and stay behind the wheel as much as possible. For now, it's only photos from the rear. Ha... I have a unique situation where I have a house in the North Georgia mountains that needs a car for both me and my guests. I'll be renting the car with the house regularly and want the ability to get a new car every year or so to reduce the chance of issues and limit wear and tear. I also chose a spec that is different than I normally would get. I would not have done ZF auto and would chosen some more aggressive aftermarket modifications. This is my modification plan. Exterior 1. Vorsteiner ABS Gloss Black Front Grill 3. IND Painted Front & Rear Reflector Set 4. IND Painted Front & Rear BMW Badges 5. High Impact Area PPF (Auto Paint Guard) XPEL Ultimate 6. Paint Correction – Gtechniq Crystal Serum Ultra/EXO V5 7. Acexxon Front Lip Protector Exhaust 1. PSI Mid-Pipe 2. Akra Rear Section Interior 1. Escort Redline 360c 2. Blendmount 3. Mirrortap Hardwire Kit 4. Carbon Fiber Vent 5. XPEL XR Prime 15% Tint Back/Sides 70% Windshield Suspension 1. AST Springs Performance 1. Dahler Piggyback 2. Eventuri Intake 3. Eventuri Engine Cover 4. Kies Carbon Strut Braces Wheels 1. IND Painted Floating Center Caps 2. Future Classic Spacers (Size 12mm F/R) I'm excited to give this car a whirl and see if it wins me over. I don't think I have much to lose. The Jahre Techno Violet option was what really pushed me over the edge to give it a try. I'll have a whole lot more input in the future. |

Congrats on the Anniversary car.
Matt - you'll need to check if the Carbon Vent will work. I do not believe they have one for the 2023+ cars and Bryan probably is not aware the vent is shaped differently in the iDrive 8 cars. |

Just makes no sense to me to hate the look of a car so much but then still purchase it. I suppose one can do so when you make a boat load of money because at the point is isn't nearly as much of an emotional purchase. 🤷🏻

He hasn't bought it for his own daily car at all. Quote:
Even if he personally outright couldn't stand the whole car bumper to bumper, it could still make sense to choose it for a similar purpose due to the car being popular otherwise. According to the quote above it may get changed on a yearly schedule too, so it's not like this is years of commitment with something he may not like. It's also a platform that allows him to put some "personal touches" into it to make it feel more tailored. I also don't see him leaning too much on "grille hate". It's not in the video title, nor the thread title, and there isn't big red arrows pointing to it with a shocked emoji in the thumbnail either. Just providing his personal context. At least that's my impression. I get where you're coming from too, but with the above context it doesn't seem too out there for me. Definitely a nice perk of the work he put in to be able to do this. I guess at the end of the day he did feel an interest to find out how he gets along with the G80 on the longer term. Could be interesting how it works out in the end. Yes, I know, one less car bought won't make a difference in the grand scheme of things. However, if there are enough people out there that truly feel that way and choose not to buy, and instead go with a competitor, then it helps support the notion of it being a poor design.
