Took delivery - pics (including spare)

So far the 25 miles I have drove seems smooth. In my opinion (same with the 2018 X2) I find the seats somewhat uncomfortable, and will have to continue to play with them to find that nice spot.

One thing I wasn’t expecting was the lane adjustment in steering when you start to drift since it doesn’t have adaptive steering.

If you want other pictures let me know.

Very nice! I notice you have the M sport but it appears to be missing the badges on the front sides of the car.

BMW doesn't place "M" badges on cars with the MSport Pkg here in USA.

Just depends on the country. If you ever look at an invoice for a US BMW, it'll specifically state "without line designation outside"

We purchased the badges from EBay and since they are spec'd in Europe from the factory, don't have an issue with putting them on our vehicle. Similar to our "Supercharged" badges from Audi on our Q7.

The OP is from Germany, but the car is US Spec, so hence why there are no badges.

on BMW Germany website, they let you configure the X1 with M Sport package and on the other options page, there's an option to delete the M badge on the fenders(no cost option). I assume that means not all German drivers want that M badge?

while there, I noticed that the German X1 has much smaller headrests for the rear seats, which make the view out the back window much better for the driver... probably because the US has different safety regulations?)

I saw an Australian review, and they had headrests similar to these pics, rather than the flip up style the US version has. Not clear why—I can’t imagine it’s US regulations, because plenty of other males have the style in your pix, including Volvo.

We basically have the same car awaiting carrier assignment. Looking forward to getting it.

I don’t doubt this at all but it is strange that BMW will put the M badge on some of the M-lite models. We bought a 2022 X6 M50i and it has a M symbol badge on the back—not exactly like a true M car but it is there.

Looks like this might be a "mod" I may do lol. I'm hoping a contact of mine can get some part#'s and costs in Japan for some of these parts, with the current exchange rate it would basically be like 40% off. But then again, I'm sure BMW adjusts their pricing in each market to account for exchange rates.

Ever get the feelings the Europeans and Japanese car customers get way too many cool options that we American can never get? (but the car manufactures somehow leave hints like blank black plastic covers over where the switches for those options would be, even on cars destined for US markets)

A lot of it has to do with US laws and regulations, the rest of it is usually due to the people in BMW USA thinking that these are features that wouldn't do well in the US market. On my old '00 VW GTI, we got noticeably longer bumpers due to US bumper requirements whereas the rest of the world got shorter, sleeker bumpers. BMW's here get red turn signals, rest of the world gets amber. Daytime running lights are mandatory here, so idiots drive around at night without turning their full lights on. Station wagons are going the way of the dodo here too. We never got an e91 wagon with the N54/N55 motor.......would have been my dream car a few years ago.

DRLs are NOT mandatory in the US.

Waiting for the anti-dazzle LEDs and laser headlights to finally hit the US now that the regulations have loosened.

Ah, my mistake. I remember my dad grumbling when they started coming on cars in the 90's and saying it was stupid that it was required, and I guess it stuck. I've always had mine permanently disabled either via coding or switch because they're basically useless in Hawaii except for decreasing bulb life faster. What I do hate are those orange reflectors that we have on the front of our cars that other markets don't get. Wherever possible, I've always either covered them or removed them.

in the picture below, European X1 has what appears to be a fog light switch.(not sure if it's for front or rear fog lights) The same button on U.S. X1 just says "off" on it. Does the U.S. X1 have front or rear fog lights?
