checking out cost of service for X1. BMW service dept says alignment is about $630?

so I'm getting close to placing an order for the X1.

I wanted to check out the costs of services not covered by the free new vehicle routine maintenance. Called the only two "nearyby" BMW dealers.(both of them pretty far from me, 2 and 2.5 hours driving time)

Here's what I got... does this seem right? I get that it's the dealership's service department, but still....

prices listed are what the the two dealers charge, but based on 2022 X1, but they both said 2023 X1 should be about the same.

4-wheel alignment $630 / $670

brake service(pads) **per axle** $475 / $582

for comparison, my local Lexus dealer recently charged me just $610 to replace all 4 brake pads and 4 brake discs... alignment was just $119. my friend also just had his older GX's front brake calipers replaced after one side seized... the same dealer only charged for $760 to replace both front calipers(including new pads)

what's special about the BMW service dept's alignment that costs more than $600? Can an independent shop do this for cheaper?

Thanks!

Alignment definitely doesn't sound right. My dealer charges 175 for alignment.

Why would you go to a dealer to get a wheel alignment? Or any routine service that isn't covered by the 3/36 services?

You won't need an alignment and i highly doubt you'd run through brakes in the first 36k miles.

Previous-gen X1 was notorious for short brake life. Our 2019’s front brakes needed to be done at 30k km (19k miles), and that wasn’t unusual, based on reports in the F48 forum. Let’s hope they’ve gone with longer-lasting components for the U11 model.

I thought brake pads were no longer included in the
free maintenance for the first 3-year/36k-mile?

Oh strange i just turned in a lease with 30,000 miles and the brakes were a little less than half worn. But this car was also driven by an old lady- 50% city / 50% highway
