Nice, after I saw the 1:47, I figured the CSL would be 1:53. I didn't realize the G82 xDrive was only a 1:53.9. 1.50 seems pretty respectable.

Not only that, an equivalent spec GT4 in 2023 in the US (if you can get an MSRP allocation) is $139210 (http://www.porsche-code.com/PPGJLDN3) and it's about 3.8 seconds slower than a CSL.

The CSL was tested on CUP2R (basically a one lap super tire) whereas the GT4 was manual and on a slower tire. With PDK and CUP2R I bet it’s as fast or faster despite a power to weight that isn’t as low (CSL 6.7 vs GT4 7.85)
As a means for comparison, the GT4RS ran 1:47.6 with a 6.55 power to weight. Also crazy the GT3 also not on C2R was that fast.

I've always thought the CSL was much more comparable to 992 GTS in terms of price, power to weight, suspension, etc.. And with that, pretty impressed at the times. Not sure if the 992 GTS would've beaten the CSL if it had cup2R's.

Same here. For me, the closest Porsche competitor to the M4 CSL is the 992 GTS with the lightweight package in terms of intended use, price and peformance. The PS2CR are usually worth 1.0~2.0 sec/min lap over standard street tires (depending on the street tire in question), so it is not clear if the 992 GTS would have been faster or not than the CSL, but IMO the two would be very close on the same tire.
