Arrow Dream Build: Velvet Blue & Tartufo Individual G80 M3 w/ Matching Wheels

BIMMERPOST
     Featured on BIMMERPOST.com
I'm finally getting around to properly introducing my new G80 M3. This car marks a milestone in my life, as I got the car exactly the way I wanted. Truly a dream build for me. I ordered the car back in January 2022 and after several delays, it's finally here.

The car is a 2023 M3 Competition xDrive in 379 Velvet Blue Individual over Tartufo Full leather. Standout options include:
  • BMW OS8 w/ HUD
  • h/k Audio
  • Carbon Fibre Interior trim
  • Ventilated front seats
  • Heated Steering Wheel
  • Acoustic Glass (Double pane)
  • 50th anniversary badging
  • Parking Assist Plus
  • Black brake calipers
  • Factory De-Badge (Model Lettering deletion)
  • Driving Assistant "Light" w/out radar wart
  • 826M painted in matte Bronze (Tartufo Color Match)

Originally, the color was supposed to be Skyscraper Grey Metallic, then it was supposed to be Black Sapphire Metallic. In the end, I went with Velvet Blue Individual, since that color has stuck with me ever since selling my M4 Heritage Edition. The only thing I was set on from the beginning was the interior leather color. Tartufo in real life is to die for. Capturing the richness on camera is damn near impossible. It gives the car a very classy feel.

The wheels were painted to match the Tartufo Interior and I have to say, my dealer got it very close. Again, capturing the true color on camera is very difficult. I'll have to experiment further in some sunnier weather.

Back to the car: What a fantastic machine the G80 xDrive is. I didn't think I could fall in love more with the platform after my RWD Comp G80, but this thing has proved me wrong. Whatever I ask of it, it obliges with amazing competence and confidence. Lazily commuting to work in morning traffic? Check. Tearing up backroads and mountain passes on the weekends? Check. Killing a few hundred kilometers of Autobahn in one sitting? Check. Looking like a million bucks every time I look back at it? Check.

Whatever I throw at it, it just scoffs at me like "What, that's all you got?" Truly an amazing package. I can only imagine what's in store for the G8x in the years to come.

One thing I was very torn on, is the new Interior with iDrive 8. The car was originally supposed to be a '22, but got pushed over to a '23 model year. However after a couple weeks, I do have to say that I quite enjoy iDrive 8. It gives the whole cabin a more modern and updated feel and the new graphics and color layouts are fantastic. The display tech is very high quality, the image is crystal clear and very sharp. Due to the curvature, reflections are almost non-existant.

Anyway, thanks for reading my wall of text. Bimmerpost has been an amazing source of information and inspiration and I look forward to sharing more of my car in the months to come.

Beautiful! Congratulations!

One small item: My 2022 Tartufo full leather included Tartufo edging on the floor mats and it looks like your mat edges are black. Is this is change for MY2023?

Beautiful build, congrats! May I ask where did you get the wheels painted? I'm from Switzerland, too, and I am looking for a reliable specialist for this (I want to either powder coat or paint).

That's one of the things that got downgraded for 2023. You get the basic cheapo-mats from a 316i, regardless of leather choice. The quality of material also went down. The mats are paper thin now.

I do have the part number and will source a Tartufo set on my own.

Thanks! My dealer (Binelli in Adliswil) actually did the paint and color-matching prior to delivery.

Interesting, didn't know that official dealers do that, too. Since I also bought mine @ Binelli (but in Baar), I'll ask my sales person if they do that as well.

I didn't think they'd do it either, but me and my salesman had the idea while configuring the car and going through different options.

It ended up as "Händlerzubehör" on the offer.

Beautiful car! Do you know the option code for the "BMW Individual" door sills? I haven't seen these before.

I retrofitted the sills myself. For 2023, all Competition models get the generic „M3" sills.
