Newcomer introduction

I've been following these threads for a while. I'm also considering purchasing a new X1 and it will be my first BMW so I'd like to interact and contribute.

Hi there. My X1 will also be my first BMW. We canceled our Buick Envision order when I learned about the newly redesigned X1. Turns out going with BMW actually saved us about $2500 over the Envision.

I just wouldn't purchase a vehicle without seeing and driving first.

Here's one. Does this E48 U.S. variant have two injectors per cylinder? One mounted directly in the cylinder and one in the intake tract so as to wash the valves?

That's where I was. but I have a current BMW, and I figured - how bad could it possibly be? There is almost no chance I will hate the car, and if I don't like it, I sell it and get something else. I drove the Mini Countryman and Clubman, and the Volvo XC40, and I figure there's almost no chance it drives any worse than those. Plus, my configuration is only slightly more than the Countryman I was interested (Iconic trim); 100% I would have gone with a Countryman over the F48 X1 tho.

If I waited for the car to hit showrooms, it would be like November before I could actually see it, and then I've have to order it and wait another 3-4 months.

I actually shocked myself that I could pull the trigger without actually seeing it or touching it.

I'm in no rush. Plan to buy maybe spring of next year or fall. Will free up extra cash with my truck being paid off at the first of next year. All that and chip supplies still plaguing vehicles just gives me more reason to settle in and see how you all get along with the new model. I also want to see them in person to decide trim/color combinations.

Another question in addition to the one above about the E48 engine. Does anyone know if sliding and reclining rear seats will be available in the US later as models start to flood production next year. EU videos online are already showing. Really would like to have that feature.

There's nothing in the pricing guide about that becoming available at a later date, so I doubt it.

People on here, including myself, will be getting their X1’s in about a months time. Around that time, we should also start seeing driving reviews for the X1. However, you will likely be looking at 2023 if you were to inquire for a build after that time.

As far as the question you have regarding the engine, I am not sure. I might be at the dealership tomorrow. If I am, I will ask to see if anything is updated on the engine. Which I think there is, but again I’m not entirely certain

We just had a BMW trainer going over the x1 here with us. Reclining seats are standard, sliding will not be an option in the foreseeable future.

Do you know if the h/k stereo has a disc changer? I could only find out information about the speaker watts, etc.?

I didn't ask, but I highly doubt it. With Apple carplay, xm, and integrated spotify, it doesn't make much sense to support a dying medium.

Disc changer? It's a new car, not from 2005....

Why would it even have a single slot CD player?

Maybe I should rephrase the question... Does the stereo system have a DVD player and hard drive for storing music? Some people still have CDs by the way...

It's still a dying medium. There's no preparation for external cd player SA 65a, so BMW's retrofit CD player accessory wouldn't work on the U11, either.

If all else is equal, the i4 does not allow storage of music, but you can still play music from a USB. Safe bet says this will be true of the X1 as well.

Thank you, helpful to know... The joys of ordering a car that no one has actually seen or test driven...
