2023 X1 vs 2023 X3

I have a build 2023 X1 with a premium package and some other minor upgrades like wheel and color, then the price is going to 44950.

However, I just found out that currently, 2023 X3 is offering at least 5% - 8% off. then the price is going to 49,620 * 0.95 = 47139 or 49620 * 0.92 = 45650.

I am kind of hesitant if I should go with X3. Just want to check what is your reason that choosing X1.

Here is my comparison.
X1 has
* new design, better looking than X3, X3 should be redesigned in 2024.
* Head-up display
* Idrive 8

TLDR: X1 is probably the best value for buck. If you don't need the extra space in X3, go for X1. You will miss the physical iDrive controller wheel, that's it.

I was in the same boat. I had a custom order for an X3 M40i and the factory doesn't provide the parking assistant package anymore. I happened to check the X1 configurator and it had loads of features than X3. I was so close to ordering it. Then I checked few cars on the lot and saw that there were few M40s with these, maybe from before the features were omitted by the factory. I want the perf of M40i, else I'd have gone for the X1.

We looked at both the X1 and X3 and the delta between the two builds was around $8k. This is assuming straight MSRP deals since we were looking at factory ordering either one and the X1 will be the first car for our dealership. The X1 is being offered with a number of options standard that would have been additional on the X3 (Spacesaver Spare, Sensatec Dash, Wireless Charging). Our X1 build came in at $47k (MSport, Premium, 19" Wheels, Heat), and a similarly build X3 was $55k. The engine is the same in both cars and we are getting a full redesign with the updated technology, not a car that is going to be redesigned in one or two model years. Sure the X3 might be a little bigger, but for our needs, the X1 will be perfect.

X1 and X3 should have very similar interior space. X3 is only roughly 6 inches longer, but keep in mind it has a longer engine bay to make room for the Inline 6, while the X1 is Transverse mount so the engine bay is shorter.

Also, X1 is first model year, so expect maybe some issues. X3 was released in 2018 so it's had a few years to work out the bugs. So X3 may be a little bit more reliable than the X1 initially.

X3 is missing some of the driver assistance features, such as 360 degree camera.

I would go with the X3 if it's the same price as X1 for the following reasons:

1. I'm not a fan of iDrive 8 and it doesn't have a iDrive controller on the new X1. Everything is touchscreen. It's much easier to navigate through the menus using the controller when you're driving.
2. Shortcut keys are gone in iDrive 8. Instead of hard buttons, you need to swipe down from the top which is much harder to do without looking when you're driving.
3. Even though both are AWD, X3 is on a RWD architecture. The X3 should drive a better and more neutral handling characteristic.
