G80 Monoball Fall Line Review

I just got back from the shop i removed the factory front control arm bushings with a solid metal monoball.
DRIVING IMPRESSIONS: the steering from the factory rubber bushings was good but if you pay attention when you rotate the wheel is is a little lag time before the wheels react to your input. The monoball removes this lag COMPLETELY. Steering is immediate no lag.Stop light to stop light you will not notice much, however when on the highway is where you will feel the difference, you will feel confident in high speed cornering, no midcorner vagueness
NVH: the g80 chasis is so isolated that even with the monobalk there is almost no noise. Vibration is felt through the steering wheel but minimal. HARSHNESS, depends on what you define as harshness. on the road you will feel the texture of the road you are driving on especially on big highways, which in my opinion for any enthusiast is what you want. I want to know what the wheels are telling me about the surface im driving on and how much to turn thr wheel.

OVERALL: A WONDERFUL UPGRADE i can recommend to anybody

Installed this two weeks ago, I can also say it has improved steering feel and reduced play particularly under aggressive driving. Solid purchase.

I think I'm going to do the rest of the car, upper control arms and lower.

You can get them through IND or other Fall Line vendors like Future Classic, etc.

Played around in sport stearing it is now perfectly weighted and not numb, but accurate. Comfort steering is now too hypersensitive and not usable

I did that too. Have the FallLine race toes and the lower tension arms. Worth it, especially if you are lowered.

What was the result with respect to my front monoball review? Tell me about the rear end and overall total front and back upgrade? Thanks

Congrats OP you have just convinced me to spend more money on my car.

Hahah, I appreciate the write up. Def going to grab these now. Should pair well with my KW V3s + SPL bumpsteer adjustable tie rod ends (a must have if you are lowered).

The tension arms are stronger and remove the rubber bearing, so under load you feel a more direct connection with the rear of the car. Feels a little more dialed in, slightly more harsh but not bad by any stretch. I don’t really notice too much of an increase in vibration.

The race toe arms may give you an increase in feedback, but I more got them to obviously allow for easier adjustment of toe after lowering my car.

You had me until you wrote about comfort being unusable. I haven't got my G80X yet, but in my F80 I liked the lessened effort of comfort mode..

Talking

Monoball good until the clicking sets in. Used "heim joints" on multiple cars. Steering is enhanced at the expense of overall NVH. Used monoball type rear control arms on an old Z28. The sucker handled for 1998. It will take awhile but get ready for a bit of rumble when tolerance is realized. Not rocket science. Free Country. Do it.

Your misunderstanding me, im not talking about steering heft, im talking about sensitivity of the wheel to turning. In COMFORT its too sensitive. The slightest imput makes the car turn instantly, Thats what I mean. I fell sport plus is ideal because the steering is ultra accurate to feedback so more effort to turn the wheel will make the wheel to tire reaction time slower. Make sense?

The cars characteristics are set by the wheel alignment, if you have some toe out you will have a very darty steering feel. The only thing that the steering setting will change is assistance amount. Changing the mode to "make the wheel to tire reaction time slower" does not make sense to me.

Monoballs will however allow the car to react quicker and more precisely, removing dynamic bushing deflection on the tension rod. But if it's darty afterwards consider dialing back the toe.

So, would I regret getting these? They're on my list of 'wants'.

I'm all about better steering feel all day long but I don't want any obnoxious vibrations or annoyances. I don't mind minimal but I hate annoying sounds/vibrations.

Not bad at all. My friend does my stuff for me, only works on bmws and charges $110/hour so 2 hours is pretty fair.
