Tri-color seat belts

I know it's a comp-spec thing, but I've seen several pics and videos online of base 6-speed cars fitted with the tri-color seat belts. I figured they now came on all M3s.

Just picked up an M3 base...standard peasant seat belts. Gross.

While I don't care nearly enough to swap them, what gives? Is it build dependent (standard seats, not-full leather)? Or is is this a surprise omission due to parts availability?

Only some the early build G80/82 came with it.
Some were extremely lucky to have laser lights on cars that were ordered without. Free of charge lol

Yup sucks. I was under the impression MT cars came with it as well until I received mine. Must be a huge pain to swap.

All base MT G80/82s in Australia get the tri-colour seatbelts as standard. Maybe the cars you saw online are AU G80/82s?

Yeah, I wouldn't attempt doing a conversion especially with the motorized base units in the G82s.

Interesting - 2023 configurator (for what little that's worth, I know it's full of glitches) still shows the M belts in competition interiors, and "normal" belts in the base interiors.

The car industry is a crap shoot these days. Who knows what ordered cars will be coming in with?

Well here is some good news for G80 base M3 people. At Mdecoder.com it lists the code for the M seatbelts on my '23, so it looks to be verified

I have a launch supply car, not on mine. It is an option in Europe I believe.

EDIT or, was previously before 23.

I have a 2023 base G80 6MT on order which just completed production 8/3/22 which appears to have been built with the tricolor M belts.
M belts are listed on my build sheet, My Garage, and on M VIN Decoder.

Think it still might just be random.

My 23 that’s still in QC with a 7/29 build date does not have the stitched seatbelts listed on my garage or m decoder.

Just another data point but my 22 base manual car (US spec) also has the non-M seatbelts... kinda wack.

Another ‘22 Base with the tri-color belts. https://g80.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1948093

Seems like it was entirely random at this point for the ‘22 cars.

Being that BMW did not discount this part not being added do you all think we should reach out to BMW NA? It's worth doing so I assume?

Any of you base model MT MY23 guys have a VIN for your vehicle yet? This is an option I have been trying to get on my car for a while, even was willing to pay extra for this option (talked to my SA but was told it was wasn't an option) I am currently a Week 39 build so would really want this option on my car, hopefully it isn't random

I think I read somewhere the MY23 cars have this option in the build/VIN.
It would've been a nice touch... I liked it on my M2C.

My Garage doesn’t show them on my MY ‘23 build, which is currently at VPC. Although it also doesn’t show the enhanced B/T, so who knows.

Those early MT G8X North America press cars that had tri-colored belts were Canadian-spec I believe

Tri-colored seat belts is an option for base M3/M4 if you lived in Canada
