Can someone tell me if these are aftermarket or oem shocks by the label? 2020 m340ix was purchased new fully loaded with adaptive suspension.

Dealer had to change my shock mounts for whatever reason saying the parts were on back order. Got the car back with the suspension being lifted around and inch and the car rides soft and in all settings.

Took a picture today having it lifted at a garage to get the tires changed and saw that the label said Monroe. Are these aftermarket?

I remember the coil covering being black and its worn out and a yellow colour.

Interesting, I'm not sure if BMW is utilizing Monroe to manufacture their shocks :

Here are a couple pictures of the front strut and rear shock off my 2020 M340i

The adaptive dampers on my M440i are also Monroe. Different part numbers but probably due to M440i vs M340i.

Unless someone went out of there way to create a sticker with a BMW logo, aftermarket parts typically don't have an OEM logo anywhere.

They could be bmw parts but I have reason to believe they were swapped out. The height is different and the ride is unstable and super soft and bouncy.

Running adaptive suspsension. Wish there was a way to tell them apart. Will serial numbers or anything else.

Couldn't you call a different dealer in CA, provide the VIN and ask for the part #'s and see if they correspond?

The suspension could need to settle in. As for stiffness, it could be that your first suspension had the shipping blocks left in (it's a common issue for Supras, less common for g20s) or was just bad resulting in a harsher ride. I'd also be very shocked to see a dealer use aftermarket parts on a warrantied item.

Just an FYI to all, Monroe does in fact produce parts for BMW at the OEM level. Some parts are currently supplied by Monroe and may not have Monroe branding or label. Many large aftermarket manufacturers are OEM suppliers.

Not single response was helpful accept this one.

It's like nobody can read. My shock mounts were suppose to be replaced not the suspension, and it came back with something that feels and looks like a base models 3 series suspension.

Thanks for the pic. Are these the adaptive shocks/suspension?

Your first picture shows part of the proportional valve on the damper body, therefore it is an adaptive damper.

If all have the valves fitted, (sticking out of the damper body), with wire attached, why are the modes not working?

If all that they changed were the shock mounts and not the actual strut then wouldn't you still have the struts that came from the factory? Just a little confused on whether or not they changed just your strut mounts or the entire strut. I think your only recourse is to get them to look at it again or just warranty the entire strut assembly.

What about this response?

- You should have told your dealer that your car suspension looked higher than normal at pickup, and inquire about what exactly was done to the suspension other than replacing the shock mounts "for whatever reason".

But you did not do that.

Forum members are trying to answer your "my dealer should be the one answering my crap"" non-issue, and the best response of yours is "you all can't read".

Freaking child.

It all been done. Dealer was no help at all. If I'm right which I am pretty sure I am, they will not admit to it. Dealers in Canada tend to pull a lot of scams here. Most of them have financial issues and take advantage of customers cause most of the customers have no knowledge about cars.

The only option I have, which I am trying to avoid is to take it apart myself and examine things. There must a serial number for the part right?

I doesn't look or feel like the same car. Very soft and wobbly. Front end has a lift around 1 inch higher. Looks ridiculous and feel even more ridiculous or small humps in the road.

You think they could have installed shipping blocks onto the replacement shock mounts? lol I check it out.

Car had no shipping block before the repair.

Very doubtful and the shipping blocks wouldn't account for the extra height that you are seeing. Maybe measure out the ride height and see if anyone who is stock can give you their measurements to compare.
