Approximate wait times for build to order? What's the process like?
I'm just starting to entertain the idea of spec-ing out a M3 Comp. Optimistic timeframe is some time in the next 1.5-2yrs.
I'm curious as to what the build times / wait lists are like at Bellevue/Seattle/Northwest, if anyone knows? Also, what is the standard/normal/expected deposit to start the process? Thanks! Edit: Updates as of 4/14, does not include build time - BMW NW: 22 people in line, ~2 year wait, $1000 deposit (fully refundable) - BMW Bellevue: Unknown - BMW Seattle: M3 18 months, X3M 4-5 months, M340i 3-4 months

It could also be useful to get to know a sales human at BMW Seattle or something and see if you can get on a list to be called if anyone backs out of their car at delivery. I know someone who snaked a C8 that way despite never having bought a Corvette before. Could get lucky.

If you don't need 4 doors, you can get an M4 a lot faster than the M3. I can refer you to people at the Seattle and Tacoma. I actually picked up an M4 today, asked my sales guy a week ago and he had one incoming, the timing was perfect.

Emailed both Bellevue and Northwest over the weekend. Just got a reply from NW - 22 people on the list and approx 2 year wait.
Have not reached out to anyone at Seattle, as the site only has a phone number and I'm not at the stage where I want to waste someones time talking over the phone. Quote:

ordered 9/3 scheduled to pick up on 4/23 in Seattle. part shortage had me in purgatory for 97 days with no movement. landed in oxnard on 4/12.
if 4/23 sticks it will be 233 days. considering 233DAW8 for an inside joke custom license plate. |

Good to hear yours has a truck driver. Genius told me the May 5 estimated arrival in Oxnard could see a 1 or 2 week wait for a truck to leave for Bellevue. Hoping they're underpromising and overdelivering.

Anyone else feel like the inventory and supply chain problem is actually getting worse, not better?
I guess it's all the gradually unfulfilled and pent-up demand that is only driving the problem worse? |

Just look at some of the exhaust posts on here and how long many have had to wait. What with high demand in most sectors, nobody is having the chance to build up stock; it's just immediately heading out the door and then we're back to waiting for the next small batch. |

Allocation usage is subject to the dealer's whims, correct? I'm getting the impression that dealers are letting customer orders pile up while they use available allocations for dealer orders that are designed to maximize profits, not to mention that they get to throw mark-ups on non-customer orders.
Does anyone know if I'm wrong or right? Is there any customer protection in the sense that BMWNA mandates a certain % of allocations to be only available for customer orders? |
