This popped up this morning, interesting take that rarely gets discussed these days. I wholeheartedly agree. A sports sedan that is somewhat affordable with a tried and true six speed manual is simply awesome. The lightest version of the car and you can control basically everything you want? From a driver's perspective, what's not to like?

Great video! First time I've really seen the base wheels on the move. I don't regret not keeping them, but I definitely like them more than I thought I would.

I can't agree more with his comments on performance numbers. It is easy to get caught up in that hunt. There is also something to be said for having extra time for more enjoyment to get to a certain speed :-)

As for losing drag races to EVs, nobody interested in a real driving experience is in an EV anyways. I have driven a few and while super fast, they are boring and bland. I will keep my electric driving experiences to horsing around in golf carts with my buddies :-)

It does hurt though when an EV beats you from the dig.. just hurts.. and especially every ev out there just looks an egg on wheels.. hurts even more when you loose to an ugly car.

When I bought my Z06 back in 2004 I was 28 years old and everything was about the numbers. Fast forward nearly 20 years, and while that Z is still a quick car, it's no longer the dominant machine it once was… the M3 of the day was a tasty snack, now from a dig the Z would lose badly every single time to an AWD M3, and maybe even from a roll.

With EVs claiming the drag strip, horsepower numbers outpacing inflation, the manual transmission all but forgotten, and admittedly a few more years under my belt, I get it.

That old guy with the gloves and hat, rocking the TR6 with the top down and the revs up, with a little smile that refuses to leave his face? He's the guy having the most fun. He doesn't care about your fancy new whatchamacallit, he's in his own world. Screw the numbers.

Simple cars with manual transmissions are a dying breed. As Carlos says, "Smoke em if ya got em."

Good video. I will have a G80 6MT before too long, there's no way around it!

6MT G80 as a daily driver seems perfect, will leave it stock and put 200k miles on it. For low 70s you get one that is well optioned, a bargain in my book. And of course it can still be tracked hard!

I share your sentiment, but a manual G80 is 73k (including destination) with just paint/wheels. Plus, there are rumored price increases in the near future. I agree that a zero option G80 6MT is a great value though.

No wheels for me, I'll be more than happy with the 18/19 combo of the stock setup.

73k is still cheap for what you get in my opinion

Don't think I've ever seen a stripper with literally no options. I posted that he misquoted about the base being available with the auto. He replied and posted an edit. The world is saved, now.

Boring and bland nails it. Really good for daily commutes, but those launches are good for showing off to friends, and that's about it. I've test driven 2 Model S cars, and after the launches, it's pretty lame. Very handy. But lame. Imho of course.

Those buckets would be mandatory IMO - so $75k as a poverty spec. Still not bad at all, pretty much same as F8X pricing if I remember correctly, I mean shit I was decking out E92s on the configurator in HS and hitting mid to high 70s.

Odd that he finds the CT4 BW "more pleasurable to drive." Seems the general consensus from other reviews is that the M3 is still a leg ahead.

It's only going to become more common. But I've only ever seen an EV drive fast like 5 times in my life. Their owners don't tend to be the types to drive assertively. A base Model 3 is quick enough to them after driving a Prius their whole life.
