Android Auto Missing

I got delivery of my 2022 118i F40 last week, and Android Auto is missing from the iDrive. When I connect my phone with a cable, I get the message "USB device not recognised" on the main screen.

The dealership are absolutely no help, they told me that BMW are running some upgrade with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, and that it will be pushed out remotely in Q3 this year, and I should have it then. Is this a load of rubbish??

Is there any way I can get it now? Does anyone else have this problem?

I'm hoping it's just a software issue, as there was a lot of other equipment that I had ordered missing when the car arrived.

That's because of Option code 6P1 "temporary removal of Apple Carplay / Android Auto and WiFi Hotspot"

It will be added via a Remote Software Update, next month.

BMW uses a new hardware component (because of chip shortages) and the software for this component wasn't ready on time.

Brilliant, thanks a lot guys. Good to get some real information! If only the dealership was able to do the same!

Just got the remote software update yesterday, and Android Auto is now working wirelessly like a charm!
