N20 28i Down on power :(

Hi guys.

Did anyone experience their N20 feeling not at its best power? I have 2013 N20 28i and had the turbo replaced a while ago (with an OE one). Now, since the replacement, it feels that its not really having the same power as it previously had. Car is otherwise running totally fine, no codes, etc. It doesn't feely like any hesitation or anything, just that it pulls a little less. This week, I was playing around with coding, and I turned on the power displays in CIC. And now, I am really becoming suspicious, because the power doesn't go beyond 160kW, no matter what I do. Car is otherwise stock, rated at 180kW so this is what I would expect to see with WOT and at appropriate RPM. Can someone verify that the power/torque displays do in fact show the full power at 180kW, beyond 5500 rpm as supposed to?

I checked the obvious stuff already with ISTA-D:
- manifold pressure is always reaching the target values
- AFR is fine, at least as much as I can measure with ISTA
- rough running doesn't show anything out of ordinary

... Any ideas?

Do you have pictures of turbo blades? If the shape of the blade changes, it will have an effect

Power displays in CIC was a joke.. You need DYNO

When they replaced the turbo, did they adjust the wastegate actuator rod? I recently had mine adjusted at over 150k miles and it has better/smoother power after the adjustment (at least by seat of the pants measurement).

Not all N20's are 180 rated. Besides your turbo, check the plugs, coil packs, 02 sensors which may need replaced. Check FMIC, turbo inlet, boost and charge pipes for being worn out and for leaks.

Hi all,

First of all thanks for the help. To answer some of your questions:

The turbo was replaced by me, I didnt see any bent blades or anything else wrong.
However I didnt adjust wastegate actuator since my turbo housing and with that the attachment rod is the same (only the cartridge was replaced). I checked it and it looks ok, there is normal tension in it similar as it was before the replacement.

Plugs are new, and the coils seems fine, at least by visual inspection.
I dont know about O2 sensors but the engine is running fine and there are no codes.
I also checked for boost leaks and didnt find any.

The boost pressure is always spot on, right on target in ista D. So I guess turbo is fine, and there are also no leaks. Otherwise the boost pressure would be down.

Oh and the engine is rated at 180 kW.

Any more ideas, what can I check?
