I just ran Streets Of Willow this past weekend in my X-Drive M4. I wonder what lap times they got?

For me personally the car definitely seemed like it has more power than claimed. Coming from a 18 F80 6 speed comp to a G80 6 speed it definitely feels like more than the 29hp difference between 473hp of the G80 and the 444hp of the F80

I don't know, maybe it's possible if you drive a Comp and xDrive together back to back, which they did not.

So How the hell can you notice 100lbs enough to say "I can feel the difference".

That's like saying "the car feels different when I carry a passenger" only it's much less than a human. Sometimes I just get annoyed with these reviews.

This is why I never take these reviews seriously and it's more entertainment than anything. These reviews are trying to be honest but ultimately they project what they the driver is looking for.

If you're interested in a car, go test drive in yourself and don't put too much in what you read.

Is 95 lbs really a negative for weight? To me the added traction seems well worth 95 lbs.

And yeah that's like saying I can notice a difference driving my car with and without my kid in it

It isn't. Yeah you can isolate then weight gain and criticize it as just that but what else do you gain? xDrive/traction which is highly beneficial given the power but these reviews do an poor job relaying this info - they like to talk about things in absolutes but that's not how a car works. Yeah we get it, there was a time where drivers cars had a manual transmission and weigh 2500-3000 pounds. We're far beyond that in this type of car.

Only if your kid was sitting at all times on the hood of the car. Yes you would notice these things. How bothersome they are that’s up to you.

Anecdotally, I recently tested previous-gen Z4’s with the 4 and 6 cylinder engines, the 4 definitely felt lighter on the front and better balanced. But the 4 doesn’t have the charisma of the 6. (I think I’d still pick the 4).

I can definitely notice the extra weight of a passenger in the car on track. And the laptimes show it too. Again, whether that bothers you or not that is a different matter, but you can’t pretend it doesn’t exist.

Big difference between 100 pounds in the middle of the car, and 100 pounds at the front axle. It's probably not too big of a difference, but someone with experience would be able to feel it.

Well to be honest. Roll racing. I can definitely feel the difference between with a passenger or without. Although I can't say I ever had a 100 pound passenger lol.

I can definitely feel a difference on my GT4 when swapping the battery at the front with lithium (30 lbs), especially when I have a few gallons in the tank.

Some steering feel is negated by the fact that the xDrive has a quicker steering rack, to make up for some of its weight shortfalls.

"The Competition xDrive models are equipped with forged M light-alloy 19-inch front and 20-inch rear wheels shod with 275/35ZR19 and 285/30ZR20 non-run-flat performance tires. The redesigned front axle geometry and a re-tuned steering ratio – from 15.0:1 to 14.6:1 - ensure that the all-wheel drive variants deliver the agility that the BMW M driver expects. The oil system has been adapted to handle the increased traction and performance."

When folks started driving the F30 320 and compared it to driving the 335, it was noted that the lighter engine out front made it feel more punchy from a dig, and around town, even though it was way down on power.

But here, I don't see any way the published weight difference is something you'd actually feel, save for maybe in the very extremes of cornering?

I knew my G82 Xdrive felt a bit quicker in steering response than my rwd G80. Now it makes sense.

Definitely the rack, although, if they had different tires, that may be a little bit of it, as well.

Steering feel is negated in Xdrive? That's a deal killer. The latest steering systems are already numb, and now they are making it even worse.

No, the difference in the drivetrain and any negative impact in steering has been negated by BMW with a slightly revised fron suspension set up.

I have driven both versions and can’t say I feel any difference on the road.
