Replacing The Minivan Tires - Pirelli Cinturato P7 All Season Run Flats

Well - given the craziness of this market. I didn’t get my choice of wheel and tire package. So now I’m looking to throw these tires out the window and get something that properly matches the car. I’m confused why BMW would put 225 H-rated minivan tires on the vehicle (which in turn also locks out the speed limiter to 133mph). Has anyone replaced these with more performance oriented tires? If so, what did you get? Does the car feel significantly different? My top considerations are the Michelin Pilot All Season 4 or Conti DWS06+ on a 245 width.

Right there with you on this. I know a few run 245/40s on 8" wheels over in the g20 forum. You can find info in the wheel and tire section.

Also member Hendo741 is running 245/40s.

I swapped my 225/40 Front to a 245/35 with no issues.

Left the rear at 255/35 as I optioned the perf non rft.

I chose the Conti DWS06+ to replace my Pirelli PZ4 and I am happy with them. They grip extremely well and are very comfortable to daily drive with minimal road noise.

I just switched out my 225/40/19 square setup of Turanza LS100 Runflats with Pilot Sport 4S. It feels much better! More comfortable, Better Handling, lighter steering, and the car doesn't tramline anymore. What are you doing for a spare or tire repair kit?

Did you stay with 225 width?

Did you have a specific reason for not going to 245s?

And sorry I forgot to answer your question. This is what we have. BMW parts also sell their own.

I didn't pre order the car. It was at the Dealership and I was in the right place at the right time. That's the configuration the car came with. When I went to the PS4S it was fine for me. I don't track the car. For the way I drive the 225's are fine.

Got it. We probably have the same configuration of wheels. I have 791M. Those rims at 19x8. So the maximum tire size they can fit to spec are 245s. Hence why I asked. Thanks for the insight on the tire!

I have the same 19x8 rims and was planning 245 square. Curious if anyone else who was specced with the A/S runflats has done the same.

I was planning on ordering Pilot AS4 on 245/35 all around but found an G20 225F/255R takeoff wheel/tire set for only $200 more. 245 upfront is doable but from everything I’ve seen on here, it’s tiiiight. Not super psyched about Goodyear Eagle F1 runflats but they should be good enough for one summer.

Where did you find that information? I'm seeing online that an 8" wheel will take a 255, that's not BMW specific though. Is it the BMW wheels that don't allow it?

Where are you seeing an 8" wheel fitting a 255 tire from the factory? Michelin and Continental only recommend 255 tires on 8.5,9,9.5 rims.

It was some tire sizing website I ran across. Yea, just chatted w/ TireRack and they told me the same. Thanks for the info.

OP did you decide on a tire?

I'm in the same boat as you just with 792m wheels. Looking to replace the 225 all season tires. I've had PS4S before and loved them so will most likely go that route in 245.

Only debate I'm having is 35 or 40 and run flats or not.

I did 245/40/19 Pilot All Season 4. Fitment is tight but right.

what were your original front and rear tire size ? 225 40 R19 on all ? And any issue ? Like tire rubbing suspension spring or something else ?
