Need help; PPF for Front-end??

My Blue M240 arrived yesterday, few days ago I called 3 local places for PPF just for the black gloss side rocker panels. Two told me about $600 so I declined.

The 3rd guy was recommended from someone because he does many high end cars; Porsche 911s, C-8s & Ferrari's. He told me about same but then offered deal for full front-end for only $1,200. That includes full fenders/hood and mirrors using 8mm XPEL that comes w/10 year warranty.

For those of you who know prices, is that a good deal?? Jeez, the dealer wanted $1,495 just for a full body Ceramic Opi-coat w/7 year warranty that I declined..

Let me know ur thought on both XPEL PPF and the price

thanks...

I did fill front end on an F22 and an A90 Supra. The price you were quoted is substantially better than what I was quoted.

Of course, the Supra is a massive pain in the @$$ to cover and takes a rather large sheet of PPF.

I’d say that was a fair price I was quoted $1250.00 XPEL ultimate partial hood/rockers/mirrors. Definitely worth it I’ve done my last 3 cars.

Sounds quite reasonable.

That's more complicated. It can be, depending on whether or not the installer tucks the film so the edges are not in plain view. But many installs are done with sheets cut from a pattern that sometimes doesn't quite give full coverage. On the hood, you should have no idea that PPF was installed (unless you view it through polarizing sun glasses. On complicated bumpers that have vents etc., an exposed film edge is probably unavoidable but probably not too conspicuous.

Just echoing what H2O Doc said, the install quality really varies. The price escalates with the install type and the film.

Cheap - Template cut, visible edges
-Modified template, cut at edge
-Modifed template, wrap edges
$$ - Remove all reasonable components, Modified template, classic whole sheet where needed, all edges glued and wrapped

These guys are doing my M240i someday, this is the $$

I paid $2,200 for full front Xpel. If your installer is reputable, $1,200 is a stellar deal.

Shop that quoted me has great rep. and does high-end German and Italian sports cars. I reviewed & called 4 Shops before finding one I am comfortable with

Update everyone; I met with shop manager today.. the $1,200 quote on phone was only for partial hood & fender.. obviously you can see the line so I said no thanks.

He then offered to PPF my front bumper and rocker panels for $700 w/the XPEL 10 year warranty. Is that a decent price?? no hood coverage though... urgh

It's a pretty good price, especially for the bumper which is the most expensive part. I was quoted $1800 for full front (Bumper, hood, fenders, mirrors). Additional $500 for rockers and small part of rear bumpers.

You're gonna want to do the hood.

The one tiny paint chip I got while in-limbo between delivery and PPF was on the portion of my hood right above where it meets with the bumper. Seems to be a high-impact area.

$700 is a great price for bumper and rockers. I was quoted $850 for front bumper and $550 for both rockers by my shop. The price difference may due to the fact that I'm in LA though.

I hear you on the hood, sorry about your paint chip

Hopefully the bumper and rocker panels estimate holds. He stated both are the most important on this vehicle, especially the Bumper. Rocker panels seem to be hard plastic.. anyone know?

Update: Came to agreement w/same detailer on the XPEL PPF for Full Bumper and Rocker panels at $700, then added the beautiful hood for $400. Will be done next Tuesday/Wednesday

also decided to get side mirror caps done.. there was one minor issue with PPF install and told me they'll do the mirrors for free whenever I have time to leave vehicle for few hours

Late to this conversation but yeah, $1200-1500 is normal depending on labor rates in your area. Mine was $1250 for full frontal including every single trim piece on the bumper and the mirror caps.

I paid $1550 for Xpel ppf on Bumper, full hood and Xpel stealth for cerium gray mirror caps.

Decided against the fenders for now as the bumper covers 95% of the front end before it transitions into the fender portion.

I do have TLG mudflaps installed on Front and Rear that are doing a pretty good job of protecting the sides from debris flying off the wheel.

I'd go full front or nothing. I did a full PPF job among other things for my Golf R. Pricey but already saved the hood middle halfway up from a couple rock chips. Plus the self healing properties are just amazing….
