M Performance Exhaust compared to Stock Exhaust

Here's a comparison of the MPE to the stock exhaust on the M4 Competition xDrive Convertible. Both were set to sport plus on the engine. If you were expecting it to sound like the F8x MPE, you're going to be disappointed and underwhelmed

Not much difference at all. I was really leaning towards doing the MPE just to stay with OEM but I just couldn't pull the trigger at the $8k+ for parts/labor from the local dealership.

Ended up ordering the Remus cat-back exhaust and (im)patiently waiting for it to arrive.

That's kind of disappointing given the price premium. Is it still full titanium? The aesthetics and the weight savings would be the only real upside for this exhaust. Otherwise you can get a midpipe, but then you lose the advantage of weight cutting unless you get another titanium midpipe. Or you can find someone who welds titanium and cut the resonators and secondary cats out.

I'm guessing European sound regulations neutered this exhaust. How are the supercars adapting? There is no way something like a a Lambo is going to be neutered like this.

I was about to order Remus too but I dont like the cutting, might go with R44 its titanium and half the price of MPE and 10 bolts instead of cutting. Such a shame I was about to get this MPE exhaust oh well I'm not rich enough to throw $8k at something that makes no difference in sound..

Better sound at 1/3 the price
Sounds like a great deal to me

Thanks for sharing! Nice to see more material on this setup hitting the web.

I've had my MPE for a few weeks now, and while there is a marginal sound difference (the extremely hollow titanium adds a unique sound), I spent the money solely for the rear end transformation. I honestly can't get enough of it. Not that the normal setup looks bad, but the MPE design really ties things together with the rest of the car, especially the front end.

If you want crazy loud sound and ridiculous burbles, this isn't the exhaust for you. But if you want a more unique and sophisticated setup, this is it.

Agree with you. The MPE is more for looks and there is a different sound, it's just not like the MPE of yore

Most definitely. I recall the F8x MPE being quite a departure from OEM sound. Modern sound regulations likely?

Saw the MPE in person at the Chicago Auto Show. Much like the front end, pictures and videos really don’t do the aesthetics justice. It looks much better in person. It ties with the bulges and flared fenders really nicely.

Great picture. I've heard video of this car before, and it seems louder than mine - not midpipe loud, but likely has many break-in miles on the MPE. Just a thought. I'll be paying attention to mine over the next 1k miles to see if sound changes.

And IMO, the MPE really needs to be paired up with the side blades like pictured. Really finishes the look.

Most likely. The other MPEs have also been neutered, but louder than this one still.

My MPE on the F80 sounded better with time, I'm sure this one will too! Congrats on yours!

I don't think anyone is going to get the real understanding of what it sounds like, until the exhaust is broken in.

And I also don't think we can really tell much of a difference without the cars under an actual load. Im still interested in the exhaust, more for esthetic reasons, because I'm just kind of tired of the 2x2 side by side tips.
