My Brooklyn Grey G82 M4 Comp Xdrive build with hand controls and many mods

BIMMERPOST
     Featured on BIMMERPOST.com
Wanted to share with you all my on going G82 M4 build. I ordered a Brooklyn Grey M4 and received allocation on July 24th. It took about a month to receive a vin, took another month to actually start production and I sat in quality check over thirty days. The car finally arrived late December and I officially became the owner December 27th. During that long six month wait I began looking for aftermarket parts and started placing orders during that time. The major items I ordered for the car is the racing sports concepts(RSC) front lip from autocouture , R44 side skirts, supersprint H pipe, KW has kit and a bunch of other small items I have listed below with all the mods. Most of the other items were purchased through IND. Thank you so much Chris for all your help with my build! A lot of these items took over three months to receive but it was no big deal since I kept experiencing delay after delay from BMW.

My build spec:

2022 BMW G82 M4 competition Xdrive
Brooklyn Grey
Kyalami Orange interior extended
Drivers assistance package
Parking assistance package
Executive package
M drive professional
M shadow lights
Red calipers
Carbon fiber roof
826M black wheels
Carbon fiber trim
Carbon bucket seats
Icon adaptive LED w/laser lights
M carbon exterior package

Once I got the car I immediately took it to Mobility Works to install the hand controls since I am paralyzed and use a wheelchair. The hand controls took almost a week to install. I was the first person in the world to put hand controls on an G8X so the installer and the manufacturer of the hand controls had no first hand knowledge of how to install it on this vehicle. Normally it takes a day or two for install, this one took five. Luckily BMW offers a great mobility program that reimburses people who need to purchase hand controls for their BMW’s. I enjoyed driving the car on back roads and running small errands but I knew I couldn’t do too much driving until I got PPF done.
The car is phenomenal to drive. The best word I would use to describe this car is “capable.” This car is completely capable of handling any corner much faster than any other M3/M4 I have ever driven. This is my third M car and I have lots of track time with other M’s especially the F80/F82 through BMW. The only complaint I have is not really about the car, it’s more so the Pirelli’s mine came with. I feel like I can push the car further but the P Zero’s are holding the car back from being as capable as it can be. Also in my opinion this is the best interior BMW has ever done. They knocked it out the park especially with the bucket seats.
The car went in for full PPF and parts in the beginning of February and I cannot be happier with the end results. List of mods below

Full xpel wrap including seats
Racing sports concepts cf front lip
R44 performance cf sideskirts
Supersprint H pipe
IND painted reflectors
Future classic spacers 12mm all around
KW Has kit
IND painted roundels front and rear
Door projectors with M logo
M performance cf gas cap

I added some photos of my E92 M3 since these two cars will be sharing a garage. I am really proud of where I am now. Five years ago I went from a life changing injury with people telling me I’d never drive sports cars again. “A van would be more practical” they would say. Now I have two M’s I’ve put a lot of hard work into and I couldn’t be happier.

The new classic color combo for the G8x M chassis. Good stuff! This seems to be a real crowd pleaser

Looks great! How do you like the R44 side skirts? I've gone back and forth to getting them. I'm afraid of breaking them by forgetting they're there when entering/exiting.

The only reason I haven’t ordered this color combo is for the fear it’s too common amongst the g8x platform . But seeing these photos, it’s so obvious why it’s a crowd winner. The car looks absolutely fantastic!

Well done - one of my fav g8x I’ve seen yet. The OEM+ look does not disappoint.

I have the M performance side skirts (which stick out a decent amount) and really haven't had any issues. I also have the carbon buckets though so there is that little bit of "extra care" that goes into my entry and exit strategy anyways.

looks great. really like all the pieces you've added.

Help me understand how the racing concepts pieces install. I saw the video for the front lip. Remove 10 factory screws and it goes over OEM, put screws back in. Done. That's pretty awesome

is that the same for side skirts? Looks like some of your pictures above have the front lip but not the side skirts? Just wondering what the look would be of just the front lip and factory shadow line side skirts. Think the front lip would be lower than the factory side skirts and look weird?

Congrats on the new car.
Post some pics up with your new hand control setup. Interested in seeing it on this car compared to your F82.

Do you sell your cars when upgrading or do you still have them? Was wondering if you sell them with the hand controls as that would be a specialized subset market but with car prices right now, would probably set a premium still.

I’m pretty sure you were ecstatic for BMW to offer carbon buckets for your needs. Awesome and enjoy in good health!

I’ll add some pictures of the Hand controls now. The hand controls aren’t too difficult to uninstall so if I do ever sell it I can have them removed for the new owner. It would be great to sell it to someone who also needs hand controls but it’s unfortunately like finding a needle in a hay stack.

I really like the look of them but the side skirts do poke out about an inch and a half so you need a little bit more clearance when getting in and out. It’s definitely possible to accidentally step on them when getting out. You just have to be careful but the carbon is really good quality. When the shop was installing all the carbon he was very impressed by the RSC lip but said the R44 side skirts had a perfect weave with no blemishes. One of the best pieces of carbon he’s seen.

There’s definitely a lot of Brooklyn Grey out there. I went to a G8X meet yesterday and out of the nine cars, four of them were BG.

Thanks bro! So glad it all came together. There is definitely “extra care” that goes into getting in and out of these cars with bucket seats. Now even more so with the side skirts and wheelchair.

Ah, yeah! Saw this in person, the other day at the hangout. I was surprised to see so many BG cars there. Still a winner of a color! Car is sick, everyone at the meet had to sit in it. I'm glad you could make it, J. Good hanging out with you. To the left, to the left.

I see you have Pzeros- looks good with 12mm spacers f/r. Any rubbing? Perfect setup?
Plan on getting KWhas as well and I'm on Pzeros. Don't want it to rub but look aggressive. Thoughts?

Great spec OP.
My twin brother has the same and I'm trying to get him to add the R44 kit, now that you've a similar spec it makes my job a lot easier.
Enjoy your car, its dialled in

It was good meeting everyone. Next time we’ll do the drive. Love seeing that dravit in person. Such a dynamic color!

I was surprised that out of all of the people we had at the meet up, I don't think anyone had seen the color in person. I'm glad I went to see everyone else's car, and meet other enthusiasts.

Plan on getting KWhas as well and I'm on Pzeros. Don't want it to rub but look aggressive. Thoughts?
It’s weird, the first day I had no rubbing at all in full lock going reverse now I have a little bit of rubbing so I am going to do a little bit of shaving to stop this. The shop that installed them saw where it could rub and said they can fix that if it’s an issue so I’ll be taking it to them later this week.
