IND G42 2-Series Painted Front Reflector Set Install Guide

Tools Required:
  • 8mm socket
  • Heat Gun
  • Pry Tool

Difficulty (1-5): 1

STEP 1: Jack up car and place jackstand; turn wheel in to expose 8mm fender bolts and use socket to remove

STEP 2: Use a heat gun to soften the adhesive, be sure to keep it moving to avoid burning the paint

STEP 3: Starting towards the bottom, use your thumb to press in the reflector until it separates from the bumper cover. Use spreading tool to help separate the adhesive

STEP 4: Once removed, be sure to remove any adhesive from the inside of the bumper cover that didn't come off with the reflector

STEP 5: Peel the tape to expose the adhesive on the painted reflector and reinstall

STEP 6: Press all around the reflector from behind to secure the adhesive

STEP 7: Re-install the fender liner bolts and lower the car

Not sure what you mean by this. This completely replaces your orange reflector with a solid, painted piece.

The law you're referring to, in most states, requires the orange reflector and has nothing to do with letting light through…

Assuming this is technically illegal (in the USA), but can totally see some going this route.

Personally, I feel that the amber reflector is unobtrusive and actually provides some safety though.

That is a light (lamp). A front amber reflector is also required so that it is visible if the car is off or bulb burnt out.

I hate the way the orange looks. I'm definitely interested, but my only concern is how well would the paint actually match up? I've seen other people order prepainted parts and the colors are off. Are there any customers out there who have ordered and installed this part that can comment? Specifically for PB please, since that's the color I ordered

There is no evidence that the human eye has evolved over 30 years. Every new safety feature you mention is irrelevant to the situation of a 90 degree intersection crash. Those are the events the side markers are designed to prevent with enhanced conspicuity. With the aging of the population, the number of older drivers will increase. Some or many of these drivers may be experiencing deteriorating vision, particularly at night. This feature remains important and the data remains valid until new data replaces it. If you wish to rationalize your dislike of orange and deteriorate safety in the specific situation of intersection side-impacts, that is your decision. However, reducing the ability of other drivers to see your vehicle at night, in an intersection, cannot be explained away by disliking orange.

Here is a couple of photos with it on my car. I think it matches up pretty well.

Thanks for the pics, noticed you have PS4 tires without ZTK, did you request them or did you get non run flat performance tires, just lucky?

Those are non-standard wheels for the 240 (pretty sure they're 763Ms) so I assume they bought performance tires with the wheels after delivery

Agreed, I do hate the orange on my car. Will be replacing that ASAP. And you're right, the data remains valid until new data replaces it.

I picked the car up in November off the lot since it was gonna be the dealer's demo car, so unfortunately it came with run-flats which I didn't mind on the road until I really started pushing the car in the canyons.

So I ordered 898m wheels and the PS4's through 3rd party
